Headline: Mellie E. York, Hermitage Mayor
Warren – Mellie E. York, 77, a retired merchant and Mayor of Hermitage for 15 
years, died yesterday at a hospital here.  He was a Baptist and a member of 
the Woodmen of the World.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lucy Vickers York; 
two daughters, Mrs. Evora Baker and Mrs. Erma Wheeler of Hermitage, one 
brother, E. E. York of Warren; two sisters, Mrs. C. Q. Chandler of Ingalls and 
Mrs. J. Q. Millholland of Little Rock; three grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren.  Funeral services were conducted today at Union Church at 
Hermitage by the Rev. R. D. Harris.  Burial was at Union Hill Cemetery by 
Frazer Funeral home of Warren.
