W . Cathey. William Lowery Snow was my great great grandfather from TN, who died in Carroll Co., AR. He founded the Snow church and school there. I don't have a date or newpaper for the clipping. Regards, Phillip IN MEMORIAM. He has gone to the land of eternal delight, In fields celestial to roam. Though our aching hearts throb And the tears dim our eyes. We know the bright angels Who dwell in the skies, Are glad to welcome him home. Brother we long for they presence again, And hope to meet on the shore, Of that beautiful land Where the freed spirit flies away To its heavenly home in the skies, And never to part any more. William L. Snow was born in Rhone Co., East Tenn. Jan. 13th, 1817, and departed this life at his home in Carroll Co., Ark. Jan.13th, 1897 at the age of 80 years and 4 days. Bro. Snow immigrated to this country more than 40 years ago and soon after he came here embraced Christ as his Savior and was baptized into the fellowship of the Baptist Church of Christ by Eld. Isaac Standlee. His funeral was preached by Brother Isaac Standlee followed by the writer and Eld. W. S. Purselly on the 4th Sunday in June to a congregation of between seven hundred and a thousand people at the Snow school house. The best of order prevailed through both services, morning and afternoon; the interest was great -- tears of gratitude and sympathy flowed freely from the eyes of hundreds who knew and loved Bro. Snow. Bro. Snow, amid the conflicts and difficulties of a pioneer life, lived a consistent Christian and died in the triumph of a living faith. Notwithstanding Bro. Snow had never been able to amass a fortune, yet by industry and economy he had accumulated enough of this world's goods to make him comfortable in his old age and to have a nice little amount for each of his children and his wife. Bro. Snow leaves a wife, six sons, two daughters, many grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his loss, while he has gone to meet a loving wife and three dear children who have proceeded him to the glory land. He was a kind husband, a loving father, a good neighbor, and a friend to the poor. In the death of Bro. Snow, the church has lost a faithful member but Her loss is his eternal gain. May the Lord, in due time answer the prayers of Bro. Snow in the salvation of his remaining unsaved children and grandchildren, and now may the blessings of heaven rest on the bereaved ones is my earnest prayer. Leaves have their time to fall, and flowers wither at the North wind's breath, and stars to set - but all - thou hast ALL seasons for thine own, oh Death. Your brother in Christ, ************************************************************************
