They had settled in Clark Co., Arkansas at least the 15th of January, 1876, nothing was stated where they came from. Notice that was run in the "Registar Paper' Dec. 13 1881 LAND OFFICE AT CAMDEN ARKANSAS, DECEMBER 13,1881 Notice is hereby given that the following named settlers have Filed notice of their intention to make final proof in support of their claims. and that said proof will be made before Clerk of Clark County, Arkansas at Arkdelphia,on January 23, 1882, viz; Joseph N. Haptonstall, Clark County homestead 6062, for the sw qr se qr, (can't read) hf, sw gr, sec 30, and nw qr nw qr, sec. 30, tp 5 s, r 22 w. He names the following witnesses to prove his continuous residence upon, and cultivation of said land, viz: Elbert T. Good, Alexander Jordan, John A. Runyan, David H. Greeson, all of Amity Township, Clark County. Also, Elbert T. Good, Clark county, homestead 5221, for the s hf. ne qr, and (unreadable) hf, se qr, sec 28, tp 5s, r 22 w. He names the following witnesses to prove his continuous residence upon, and cultivation of said land, viz: Alexander Jordan, David Greeson, John A. Runyan, Jefferson W. Runyan, all of Amity Township, Clark County. Also, Nancy J. Pitts, widow of Richard Pitts, deceased, Clark County, Homesteads 5958-8270, for the w hf, nw qr,and e hf, nw qr, sec 23, tp 8, s r 20 w.
