Phelan late of 20th Ills. Vols. On this 2nd day of June, A.D. 1894, personally appeared before me Notary Public in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths, James M. Phelan aged 69 years, a resident of Piggott in the County of Clay and State of Arkansas well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation to aforesaid case as follows: I own 103 1/2 acres of land in Union Co, Ill. 3 miles north of Dongola. 90 acres cleared, balance not cleared. Value about $25. My income is derived from the rent of said farm which amount to about $7 (sixty seven) dollars per year after taxes and other expenses are paid. This and my $8.00 per month pension is all the income I have which is insufficient to provide us with the necessaries of life. I further state that I have one daughter who is dependent on me for support. I further state that the above testimony was made by me at my resident on June 2, 1894 to C. C. Cates, A notary public and in making the same I was not aided or prompted by any written or printed stated or recital prepared or dictated by any other person. Witness: R. P. Brown; T. F.
