Gazette Feb. 15, 1928: Rison, Feb 14 - Catherine May Adams, aged 4, died at the home of hergrandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Veteto, a mile north of Rison yesterday. Besides her grandparents, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Marcus Cameron, two sisters and one brother, all of Rison Ark. Gazette May 28, 1924: Pine Bluff May 26 - Mrs. Leona Cash, aged 37, wife of David Cash, sheriff of Cleveland county, died at a local hospital this afternoon. She is survived by her husband, parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.F. Foster of Rison; and five children, Marie, Cora, Doris, Otis and Mildred Cash. The body will be taken to Rison for burial. Ark. Gazette July 22, 1923: Rison July 21 - Mrs. C.S. Foster, aged 53, died at her home in Toledo Wednesday. She is survived by her husband and one son, Henry Foster of Pine Bluff. Rison, Oct. 29 - Virginia Gladdish, aged four, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Gladdish, died at her home, five miles west of Rison Monday. Ark. Gazette Dec. 5, 1924: Warren, Dec. 4 - Mrs. W.T. Hendrickson, aged 38, died at her home near the Hollis Special school Monday. She was buried at Shady Grove yesterday. Ark. Gazette May 16, 1925: Rison, May 15 - C.G. Kauffman aged 69, died at his home in White Oak township Thursday morning. Ark. Gazette July 19, 1929: Rison, July 18 - The body of Joe Lee, aged 42, who was killed last Wednesday at Hare, Mont., was brought to Toledo for burial. Ark. Gazette Oct. 30, 1929: Rison, Oct. 29 - Curtis Holderfield, aged 23, farmer, died at his home at Herbine Friday. he is survived by his wife, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garland Holderfield, three brother and five sisters. Rison, Feb. 22 - J.J. May, aged 84, died here yesterday morning and was buried today. He had lived here for more than fifty years. He was one of the best known men in this section of the state. Sheriff I.E. Moore is his son-in-law. A large crowd attended the funeral this evening Ark. Gazette Feb. 1, 1914: Warren, Jan 31 - Mrs. Elizabeth L. Nelson, 75 years old, died at her home in Warren Wednesday. Mrs. Nelson had lived in Warren for about 10 years. She came here from Cleveland County. Ark. Gazette May 26, 1923: Rison, Mar. 23 - Funeral services for B.H. Quinn, aged 83, who died March 23, were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. H.H. McGuyre (sic), pastor of the local Methodist church, assisted by the Rev. A.N. Stanfield of the Baptist church. Burial was in the Rison cemetery. Mr. Quinn had lived in Rison since 1882. He is survived by his wife: four daughters, Mrs. W.D. Adams, Mrs. W.B. Smith, Mrs. W.H. Powers of Rison, Mrs. Will Walker of Dallas, Tex; three sons, Ewing Quinn of Pine Bluff, Davis and Bob Quinn of Rison. Arkansas Gazette Feb. 23, 1908 page 6: Rison, Feb. 22 - Mrs. David Quinn, aged 24, died yesterday in Texarkana, at the infirmary where she underwent an operation. The funeral was held this afternoon by Rev. Mr. Holeman of the Methodist Church. Ark. Gazette May 31, 1913 - Rison, May 30 - Nathan Smith, 76 years old, former county treasurer, died last night at the home of his son, C.P. Smith of Rison. He was county treasurer for eight years and was prominent in Masonic circles, having been master of his home lodge for 28 years. He is survived by three sons, J.E., C.P., and P.N. of Rison, and two daughters, Mrs. N.A. McKinney and Mrs. Tiney Lewis. Funeral services were conducted today at Moore's church by the Masons Ark. Gazette August 18, 1929 Rison, Aug 17 - James Edward Terry, farmer, aged 43, was shot and instantly killed last night, two miles east of Rison, by Ben McDade, age 37. McDade is a share cropper on the Terry farm and there had been some trouble between the two families for several days McDade's wife had left her home and had gone to the Terry home. Mrs. Terry, Mrs. McDade and Mr. Terry had gone to the McDade home to get Mrs. McDade's clothing. When they arrived at the house they found the doors locked and had started to enter through a window when McDade came up. Angry words passed between them, and McDade fired one shot, using a shotgun loaded with buckshot. Almost the entire load struck Terry, killing him instantly. McDade surrendered to Sheriff C.R. Morrison immediately after the killing. An inquest was held and McDade's preliminary hearing was set for Tuesday morning. Terry is survived by his wife; four sons, Buck, Robert, Calvin and Virgil, all of Rison; three daughters, Nettie Terry of Rison, Mrs. Lillian Neely and Mrs. Alma Rauls of Herbine. Ark. Gazette Nov. 10, 1903: New Edinburg, Nov 9 - John Hollis of this county, an old resident, died last night. Ark. Gazette Nov. 12, 1922: Rison, Nov. 11 - K.F. Tucker, aged 65, seven miles east of Rison, died Wednesday. He is survived by his wife and seven children. Ark. Gazette Aug. 10, 1927: Warren, Aug 9 - J.M. Wharton, aged 76, died here on Sunday. He was born in Cleveland County and is survived by three daughters and four sons. Rison, July 21 - B.W. Williams received a message from Trout, La., announcing the death of his nephew, Carl Williams, age 23, formerly a Cleveland County boy.
