His parents, Hiram G. and Eliza (Greer) Adams, were natives, respectively, of Indiana and Tennessee. To that worthy couple were born thirteen children, seven of whom are now living, and all reside in this county. Hiram Adams was one of the pioneers to this section, coming here from Indiana in 1838, and from that early day made Conway County his home till death called him to eternity in 1878, August 21. He took an active part in the public affairs of his day and time, and was a liberal supporter of schools and churches. He was a Royal Arch Mason, and he and wife both members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. Mrs. Adams died on March 21, 1884. Our subject received his education at the schools of this county, and on attaining his majority he began life for himself, by embarking in a life of farming, with a team and one year's supply. In 1879 he married Margaret Belson, a native of this State, and to this union have been born five children, named Benjamin, Alta M., Libbie E., Thomas W., and Eliza M. From the limited start Mr. Adams has increased and added to his possessions till he now owns 105 acres of good land, has fifty acres under cultivation, with good improvements, and well stocked. Mr. Adams has always been an active man in the politics of McLaren Township, and has held the office of Justice of Peace for six years. Politically he affiliates with the Republican party, and in all matters of local interest is always for those measures which promise the greatest good. Family are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.
