Goodspeed Publishers, 1891. page 120 A. F. Vandeventer. Among the promising young attorneys of the Conway County bar may be mentioned A. F. Vandeventer, a native of Illinois, born in Fulton County, in that State, in 1862. He was the youngest in a family of five children born to John F. and Sarah (Bowers) Vandeventer, who were natives of Illinois and Tennessee, respectively. They are still living and reside in Illinois. Cur subject attended the common schools at home, and later the State Normal University at Normal, Ill., for two years, finishing his literary education there. In 1885 he entered the law office of his brother, Wilton M., at Canton, and began the study of law; was admitted to the bar from this office in 1887, passing an examination of the Supreme Court at Springfield. Mr. Vandeventer then located at Canton, where he began practice, but in December, 1888, came to Arkansas, and at once established himself at Morrilton. Here he has since received most encouraging support, and has won his way to the confidence of the people, by his ability and success in transacting all business entrusted to his care. Mr. Vandeventer is much pleased with the future promise of Morrilton, and is now engaged in erecting a handsome residence on the eastern end of Church street, and expects to make this his permanent future home. Our subject was united in marriage in June, 1884, to Miss Callie Davis, a native of Ohio, and to this union have been born two children, J. F. and Montier. Mr. Vandeventer is the attorney for the Morrilton branch of the Arkansas Building and Loan Association, and socially is a member of the Odd Fellows.
