Raymond Nichols Held For Death Of Elmer Rainbolt Raymond Nichols, aged 38, ar- rested early Saturday charged with shooting to death Elmer Rainbolt, about 63, was taken to the State Hospital at Benton Saturday by Sheriff D. E. Thomas for a 30 day sanity test. Charges of first degree murder were filed by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Carroll W. Johnston Sat- urday following a coroner's inquest held at Birdtown early Saturday by Coroner Robert D. Harris. The jury's verdict was that Rainbolt died of a "gunshot wound." Mrs. Rainbolt told officers that the shooting which took place at the Rainbolt home at Birdtown, follow- ed an argument between the two men. She said that after her hus- band had been wounded, Nichols forced her to accompany him to his home, threatening to shoot her.
