Cook, prominent citizen of Bono and a resident of Craighead county for the past eighty-three years, died this morning at one o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joe A. Stephens, one mile from Bono. The cause was pneumonia with which he had been ill the past ten days. The deceased was eighty-three years of age, being born in Craighead county near the Greene County line. He has never lived over ten miles distant from his birth-place. He followed farming as an occupation and engaged in the mercantile business at Bono many years. 15 years ago he retired from active work. He is survived by five children, Mrs. Stephens, Mrs. J. A. Coward of Bono, Mrs. R. L. McKinney of Eldorado, Ark; Tom Cook of this city and H. L. Cook of Shanghai, China. G. W. Cook was a citizen of the highest type. He was at one time treasurer of Craighead County. He was possessed of a pleasing personality that won friends of every acquaintance. In his death Craighead County losses one of its best citizens. He was a Christian gentleman, being a lifelong member of the Baptist denomination. Among other affiliations he was a member in the Masonic lodge. The funeral was held this afternoon at one thirty at Oak Ridge near Bono, conducted by Rev. E. P. Minton of this city. Interment was at Oak Ridge cemetery.
