(Parsons) Smedley did the transcription.. 10 Jun 2000 *************************************************************** The White/Shelby County Cemetery is located in Fort Chaffee Property, southeast of Fort Smith, Arkansas. It is off Highway 22, turn 1st entrance (GATE 19) after passing the Main Entrance for Fort Chaffee. Turn right at Gate 19, go 9/10 mile, turn left at second road to left, go 9/10 mile. The cemetery is located on the left of the dirt road (which is good). It is well maintained and fenced all the way enclosing the graves. You must park at the rear and go through double gates. This is located in Sulphur Springs Township. It is an older cemetery with many Whites, Shelby, Taylor & Eslinger tombstones. Many of the graves are marked only by ledgestone rock, hewn to mark the top and bottom of the graves. Some of the stones are large stones, inscribed with family member's names and dates.
