The switch engine was making a flying switch with a caboose near the union depot and had cut loose when Floyd, who was considerably under the influence of liquor, attempted to step on the front platform of the caboose. He missed his hold, and fell under the wheels, both legs being run over below the knees and a wheel also passing over his thigh. He was taken to Dr. Dibrell’s office, where such medical attention as was possible was given him. From there he was taken to the home of George Crowley, his brother-in-law, where he expired at 8 am Monday. The man was horribly mutilated and it is a wonder the shock did not kill him outright. Floyd leaves a wife. The body was taken to Colorado for interment.
