Mr. Bourne first settled a few miles below Van Buren; then when the Lovely Purchase was opened for settlement, he moved into that area near what is now Sallisaw, Oklahoma. In 1828, the land was ceded to the Cherokee Indians and the white settlers had to give up their homes; he than came back to Crawford Country and settled near Dripping Springs. He married Clarinda Weaver on September 4, 1831. She was born in White County, Tenn. on January 16, 1813. They were parents of several children. She died on January 21, 1851.
