Henry Gene Pannell 2 Sep 1948 Fordyce News Advocate

FORDYCE NEWS ADVOCATE, 2 September 1948-The Pierce-McKeowen Post No 250
of the American Legion assisted by the Varnado-Ponnell Post NO 213
conducted the funeral service of Gene Pannell Sunday August 29, 1948.
Gene  the son of Charlie Pannell of Norphlet was killed in action on
Luzon Island in Jan 1945 and his body was shipped home for re-burial
following services at Norphlet Baptist Church on 1:00 PM Sunday. The body
was brought to Carthage for services and burial  at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Gene was buried with full military honors with Rev. AE McAlister acting
as post Chaplin. Scott Key commander of the firing squad conducting the
burial. Gene is the grandson of Mrs. Belle Pannell and Mrs. Ella Wallace
of Carthage.
