All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ******************************************************************************** ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT March 22, 1938 Little Rock, Arkansas James Frank Edwards, 37, in charge of the collection department for the closed American-Exchange Trust Company, died suddenly at 9:30 am this morning while at work at the bank, Third and Main Street. Death was attributed to heart disease by attending physicians. Dr. Howard A. Dishongh, coroner, returned a verdict of death by natural causes. Mr.. Edwards was considered in good health and is said to have made no previous complaints of heart attacks. He arose as usual this morning and had gone to the bank about 8:30. Shortly after 9 he complained of feeling ill. Co-workers called an Owens and Company ambulance and physicians, who pronounced him dead upon arrival. He had been connected with various banks here the past 16 years as a teller and a cashier. He formerly was connected with the old Southern Trust and American-Southern companies, and was with the American-Exchange Trust Company when its doors closed in November, 1930. He was retained for its liquidation and had been in charge of the collection department since that time. His home was at 119 East Fourteenth Street, North Little Rock. Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Lucille Skipper of North Little Rock; two daughters Gloria Jean and Francille; his parents, Mr.. and Mrs.. J. R. Edwards of Conway; six sisters, Mrs.. R. C. Stewart and Mrs.. E. H. Allison of New York City, Mrs.. Jess Gammell of Montrose, Mrs.. William H. Roth of Searcy, Mrs.. A. J. Meadors of Little Rock and Miss Martha Mae Edwards of Conway; four brothers, John W. Edwards of New York City, Hugh Edwards of Little Rock and Charles and James Edwards of Conway. He was a member of Big Rock Lodge, F & AM Bendemeer Grotto and of North Little Rock Lodge No. 1004 BPOE. The body is being held at the Owens and Company parlors pending funeral arrangements.
