Subject was educated in Franklin Co., Ark by Wm. Abernathey, Mr. Barker Waddle and Elijah Wortham. He was a farmer, Democrat, Methodist Episcopal, served as steward and an Odd Fellow. Enlisted in Co., E, 15th Cherokee Cav. at Haney Fork Prairie, Franklin Co., Ark. Aug. 1864, under Capt. Jake Beane, served to close of war, never paroled - never in a regular battle. Married Herriett Elizabeth McFerren, dau. of Sam and Esther McFerran, on May 24, 1866 at Charleston, Ark. Children: 1. Thomas Jones Rogers m. Annie Choate - Ft. Smith Ark. 2. John Wesley Rogers m.
