Webster, born in St. Louis, Mo., July 22, 1846, died at his home near Mammoth Spring Feb. 22, 1923 aged 76 years and 7 months. During the war between the states Mr. Webster, a volunteer in Co. D. 15th Missouri infantry, served his country in the Federal army, going in when yet a mere boy. Aug. 30, 1874 he was married to Miss Miidred [sic] Harrison. To this union one child was born, a son, Walter J. Webster, who was with his father through his sickness, to help and comfort his aged mother through the trying ordeal. A member of the Presbyterian church Mr. Webster was a Christian gentleman and exemplary citizen, one who attended strictly to his own affairs and never meddled with others. He numbered his friends by the extent of his acquaintances. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Wallace Bostwick, of Thayer, a dear friend of the deceased, assisted by Bro. Marris pastor and the choir of his church [sic]. Burial was had in Thayer Cemetery, conducted by T.H. Morris undertaker.
