BEARD Otis L. Beard, 76, died Nov. 21. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sarah B. Beard; two sons; Otis E. Beard of Tenn. and Robert H. Beard of Miss.; two daughters, Sara Carter of Miss. and Betty J. Inlow of Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. Jess Reed and Mrs. George Burns, both of Tenn.; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services and burial were held in Sardis, Miss. GERTRUDE BURKHART Mrs. Gertrude F. Buckhart, 76, died Nov. 19. Survivors include her husband, George T. Buckhart; a brother, Raymond A. Fox, of Pacifia, CA.; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Pittman of Chicago, ILL; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Nov. 21, in Gross Mortuary Chapel. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. STEWART HOWELL Stewart Howell, 63, a sawmill employee, died Nov. 18. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Etta Howell of Norman; a brother, Oscar Howellof Norman; a sister, Mrs. Ernestine Reynolds of Norman; one niece and two nephews. Funeral services and burial were held in Mena. JAMES L. CARTER James L. Carter, 79, a retired postal employee, died Nov. 24. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pearl Carter of Hot Springs; a daughter, Mrs. Pansy Lascaro of Hot Springs; two sisters, Mrs. C. C. Campbell of Texas and Mrs. Robert Wallingford of El Dorado; and three grandchildren, Mrs. Anna George and Miss Susan Lascaro, both of Hot Springs, and Rev. Nicholas Lascaro of Van Buren. Funeral services were held Nov. 25 in Gross Mortuary Chapel. Burial was in Arlinton Cemetery in El Dorado. BERTHA S. JAQUES Bertha S. Jaques, 83, died Nov. 21. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Maude Anderson of Hot Springs; four nephews, Paul R. Brown of CrownPoint, Ind., Frank M. Brown of Little Rock, Robert Jaques of Independence, Mo., and Richard Jacques of Kansas City, MO. Funeral services and burial were held at Westwood Village, CA. MARIE C. JONES Mrs. Marie C. Jones, 63, died Nov. 20. Survivors include a foster daughter, Jo Ann Bear of Plainview; and a sister, Margaret Campbell of Nevada. Funeral services were held Nov. 25 in Caruth Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Little Rock National Cemetery. DANIEL J. KROHA Daniel Joseph Kroha, 55, a plumber, died Nov. 22. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Kroha of Hot Springs; three sons, Daniel J. Kroha Jr. of Little Rock, Mike Kroha of Columbia, Mo. and Keith Kroha, of Hot Springs; a daughter, Mrs. Randy Teague of Hot Springs; and a sister, Mrs. Marge Hermann of Milwaukee, Wisc.; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Nov. 25 in Gross Mortuary Chapel. Burial was in Morning Star Cemetery. LEROY PAYTON LeRoy (Roy) Payton, a former grocer and retired employee of Muse Laundry, died Nov. 22. Survivors include a son, Charles W. Payton of Redondo Beach, Ca.; two daugters, Mrs. Mary F. Kinsey of Hot Springs and Mrs. Evelyn Price of McNeil; three sisters, Lucille Merritt, Julie Smith and Alma Hughes, all of Hot Springs; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Nov. 26 in Gross Mortuary Chapel. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. LILLIE PITTMAN Mrs. Lillie A. Shirley Pittman, 87, a native of Hot Springs, died Nov. 19, in Lancaster, TX. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Velma R. Estell of Burleson, Tx.; a sister, Mrs. Mille Caver of Calif.; three grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held Nov. 21 at Gross Mortuary Chapel. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. GAMALIA A. PYLE Gamalia Anderson (Little Male) Pyle, 90, a retired owner-managerof a grocery store, died Nov. 19. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Effie Pyle of Hot Springs; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Hennes of Hot Springs, and Mrs. Leatres Mercier of Peel; a grandson, Gamalia Anderson Wilson of Freeport, Tx.; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Nov. 22, in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. DOWNEY SMITH Miss Sherwood Downey Smith, 77, died Nov. 22. Survivors include a brother, William K. Smith of Hot Springs; two sisters, Lethe E. Smithand Hester H. Smith; both of Malvern; a great-nephew, Robert Wiseman.Funeral services were held Nov. 25 in Malvern. Burial was in Oakridge Cemetery.
