Hartford Courant, Nov.15, 1909-New York, Nov.14-Promoter of Prizefights, and
Horse Races-Dan A.Stuart, one of the best known sporting men in the country,
died at his home here today of Bright’s disease and heart failure. Born 52 years
ago in Vermont, he made his name in the west. Horse racing in Arkansas suffered
a severe blow in his death. He with John Condon of Chicago owned the Oaklawn
Race Track in Hot Springs. Stuart was the principal fighter of the anti-betting
law in Arkansas.
