Suffering from considerable loss of blood, Shenep, found unconsious by a trusty, was rushed by Gross ambulance to Ouachita hospital where he died a short time later. Lt. Henry (Buddy) Hogg, in charge of the day shift, said another prisoner in the jail reported he saw the man removing the stitches but was told to mind his own business whereupon he went to sleep. Shenp, who gave his address as a hotel on Broadway, came to the station first Sunday afternoon to complain that someone was trying to kill him, according to Lt. Hogg. He stayed about two hours, called a taxicab and left. some time later he was back, stayed awhile and after calling a cab to go home refused to take it when it arrived at the jail, the officer reported. He was then locked up for investigation without charge. Later he asked permission to call the FBI which he did, Hogg reported, but the agent who talked with him said there was no evidence from the conversation that any federal law had been violated. Hogg said he did not know how the man had succeeded in cutting his wrists in the first place. =====================================================
