Survivors include his wife, Ruby I. Lowrey of Hot Springs; one son, Dr. C. W. Lowrey of Alexandria, Louisiana; one daughter, Mrs. Pat Wooten of Hot Springs; one brother, John T. Lowrey of El Paso, Texas; two sisters, Doris Clark and Lois Ellis, both of Hot Springs; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews. NORMAN A. THOMPSON ****************** HOUSTON-- Memorial services for Norman Allen thompson, 43, who died Thurs., Oct. 29, 1981 in Houston, were held Nov. 2, 1981 at Westminister Methodist Church. He was born on March 11, 1938 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was a long-time resident of Houston. He lived in Hot Springs, Arkansas for the past several yrs. where he was associated with Erickson Construction Co. He was a graduate of Lamar High School in Houston where he was an athlete and voted the most handsome senior. He attended the Univ. of Texas and the Univ. of Texas and the Univ. of Houston. He was active in youth sports and was a football coach for the Houston Elementary school Gray Y Program. He continued his work in youth sports after relocating to Hot Springs. Survivors include two sons, John Allen Thompson, and Norman Bradley Thompson; his parents, Joan and Howard Thompson; two brothers, Marty and Michael Thompson; and one sister, Joann Thompson Simpson. He was born in Little Rock and had resided in Hot Springs for the past four years. He was a veteran of WW II, a member of the ASHRAE, the Ark. Pilots Assoc., the Fine Arts Center in Little Rock, and the Trinity Methodist Church in Little Rock. He was a nationally known pioneer in energy conservation research. He was engaged in the refrigeration, air conditioning and heating business for over 30 yrs. During that time was employed by 555 Inc., and operated the Harry Tschumi & Co. in Little Rock. For the last four yrs. he worked as an energy consultant. He received national publicity in the early 1960's for a unique heat pump program. He was listed in the "Who's Who in Business and Industry' in 1964-1965, was the author of "Do You Have Money to Burn," a study of increased thermal protection and energy conservation. He was one of 43 persons nominated for the 1975 "Construction Man of the Year: award by "Engineering News-Record" a construction magazine. He was a co-designer of the original "Super Thermal Home," a predecessor of the Energy-Saving Home featured in the "Arkansas Story." She was born in Hot springs in 1913 and was a resident of Oklahoma City for the past 50 yrs. She was the daughter of the late R. T. White.
