"Jan" Brown Kloap, 66 of Benton, Ark., died Aug. 22, 2001, at Saline Memorial hospital. She was born Oct. 8, 1934, at New Kensington, Penn., to the late Robert and Priscilla Leach Brown. "Jan" was a 1954 graduate of Susquehanna University of Selinsgrove, Penn., where she received her B.S. degrees in chemistry, biology and mathematics. She was a Registered Medical Technologist having worked at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center and the Baptist Medical Center of Little Rock where she also taught chemistry. She had worked in chemical research for Merck, Sharp and Dhome and had been a substitute teacher in the Benton School System. "Jan" was an active supporter of the Benton Band Booster Club and the Boy and Girl Scouts. She was a devoted member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church where she was a Lay Reader, a member of the Episcopal Church Women and the Altar Guild of St. Matthews. Survivors are her husband: Nicholas "Nick" Kloap of Benton; her son: Robert Kloap and his wife Libby of Sheridan; her daughter: Kathleen "Katie" Gwinn Baney and her husband Allen of Bellenfonte, Penn.; her grandchildren: John and Jaron Kloap of Sheridan and Ross Baney of Bellefonte, Penn.; a brother: Donald H. Brown and his wife Jo of Springfield, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. on Aug. 27 at St. Matthews Episcopal Church by the Rev. Tom Sifford and Bro. Mark Lindsey. Entombment followed in the mausoleum at New Rosemont Memorial Gardens by Roller-Ballard Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were Dr. Mark Martindale, Steven Lovell, Steve Smith, Alan Appling, Gary Sparks and Danny Carter. Honorary pallbearers were H.B. Thorn, M.D., F. Paul Hogue, M.D. and Joe Martindale, M.D.
