He was born Aug. 13, 1923, to James Jordan and Kathy Fronnie Phillips and lived most of his life in Texas, being a resident of Terrell since 1990. He was a roughneck in the oil fields of west Texas. Survivors include his wife: Maggie Chambers Phillips; three daughters: DeAnn Parsons of Kansas, Marcia Davis of Odessa, Texas, and Darla McCallister of Grand Falls, Texas; two step-sons: Truman Solomon of Odessa and Harlan Solomon of Terrell; two step-daughters: Cathy Lancaster of Terrell and Judy McClanahan of Monahans; five brothers: Clark, John and Homer Phillips, all of Leola; Billy Phillips of Breckenridge; and Jimmy Phillips of Sheridan; two sisters: Gladys Batchelor of Malvern and Natalie McCrackin of Tulip; 16 grandchildren, and a number of great-grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral services were Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Coggans Funeral Home in Terrell, Texas with the Rev. Steve Bell officiating. Graveside services were held Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. at the Leola Cemetery. Local arrangements were by J.A. Funk Funeral Home.
