Skorcz, 85, died Oct. 14, 2001, at Baptist Medical Center. He was a founding member and one of the original builders of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Sheridan. Mark is survived by his wife of 64 years: Lexie Brewer Skorcz; sons: Harvey M. Skorcz and wife Sharon, and Charles Harold "Chuck" Skorcz and wife Nancy, all of Sheridan; a daughter: Patricia Pollack and husband Mark of Little Rock; 10 grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. His parents, seven brothers and four sisters preceded him in death. Mark was a millwright, a member of the Carpenter's Union for more than 50 years and was retired from Pickens-Bond Construction Co. He was also a farmer and rancher, especially during the 1940s, being one of Grant County's top producers during World War II. He was a charter member of Williams Bend Hunting Club and enjoyed hunting and fishing with relatives and friends. In his early years, music was one of his passions. He played the fiddle with the Light Crust Dough Boys and other bands around the Grant County area for dances and family gatherings. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 16 at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted by Bishop Andrew J. McDonald (Retired) at 10 a.m. today, Oct. 17 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Sheridan. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to" Holy Cross Catholic Church, 281 Grant 9, Sheridan, AR 72150. Pallbearers were: Charles Skorcz, Ralph Skorcz, Frank Skorcz, Walter Skorcz, Jerry Brewer and Marion "Mac" Brewer. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Skorcz, Don Winston and Wayne McElrath.
