McBride, one of the independent sons of toil and a successful horticulturist of Hurricane Township, Greene County, Ark., was born in Tennessee and came with his parents, Daniel and S. M. (Jones) McBride, to Greene County, Ark., about 1870. He was one of ten children, two of whom were born after their arrival in Greene County. William J. McBride remained on his father's farm until he was nineteen years of age, when he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Jane Edmondson, daughter of Archibald Edmondson, of Greene County. After marriage he and his wife settled on forty acres, to which he has since added forty more, all improved, this forming one of the best farms in the neighborhood. He has by far the finest peach and apple orchard to be found in his section of the neighborhood, last year having from it 300 to 400 bushels, all of which was fed to the hogs with the exception of that used by the family, there being no market for the fruit. To Mr. and Mrs. McBride have been born five children: Matilda E., Daniel S., Malinda J., Julia C. and William H. Mr. McBride is a member of Evergreen Lodge No. 66, I. O. O. F., and also of the Agricultural Wheel. He and wife belong to the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.
