Thompson was born in Virginia in 1812. Her husband's name is not known with certainty. In 1850 Lucy and her family were living in Giles County, Tennessee. Her children at that time were: Norman D., 1830; Wiliam, 1832; Thomas, 1834; Nicholas, 1836; Susan, 1837; and Martha J., 1841. Tabitha Mealer, born in Virginia in 1786, was living with the family. It is believed that Tabitha was the mother of Lucy A. Thompson. During the 1850's Lucy A. Thompson moved to Greene County and settled in Union Township. As of 1860 her children, Nicholas and Martha J., were still living in their mother's household. In about 1858 William F. Thompson, son of Lucy, married a woman named Millie, born in North Carolina in 1833. In 1860 William and Milliewere living in Union Townshipand had one child, William A., born in Arkansas in 1860. In 1880 William and Millie Thompson were living in Friendship Township and several more children had been added to the family: Sidney (a son), 1861; Eliza J., 1865; John W., 1866; Cebelle (a daughter), 1868; Angeline, 1869; Emma E., 1871; and Narciss a, 1876. THOMPSON II Marlin Thompson was born in Tennessee in 1816. His wife, Sarah, was born in Kentucky in 1819. In 1850 the family was livng in Henry County, Tennessee and theirchildren were: R.C., 1838; W.G., 1840; John, 1842; Aaron, 1845; Jonas, 1847; and Sarah, 184 9. All the children were born in Tennessee. Marlin Thompson's occupation is listed ,in the census record, as "merchant." While still in Tennessee Aaron Thompson, son of Marlin, married a woman named named Mary. Sometime between 1875 and 1880, Aaron and Mary moved to Greene County and settled in St. Francis Township. Their children as of 1880 were: Mollie A., 1868; Clem entine, 1872; James, 1875; and Luella, 1880. Luella was born in Arkansas, but all the other children were born in Tennessee. I n 1930, at the age of 85, Aaron Thompson attended a banquet in Paragould which later was known as"Bud Ryan's Party for the Old Folk." The guest roster showed that Aaron was born in Henry County, Tennessee. THORN Wiley Thorn was born in North Carolina in about 1809. His wife, Amelia, was born in the same state in 1817. In 1850 the Thorn familywas living in Madison County, Tennessee. Their children at this time were: Martha J., 1841; Nancy C., 1844; WilliamT., 1845; and Charity A., 1847. Dempsey Welsh, born in 1770, was living with the family at this time. Sometime during the 1860's the Thorn family arrived in Greene County and settled in Friendship Township. As of 1870 there was one child living in the household: James E., born in Tennessee in 1860. By 1880 Wiley Thorn had died and Amelia was the head of her household in UnionTownship. Her son, James, was living with her. A grand-daughter, Lula Breckenridge, born in Arkansas in 1872, was in the same household. Martha Breckenridge, a servant girl born in Arkansas in 1865, was also present. William Thorn, son of Wiley and Amelia, married Fannie B. Menser in Greene County on Dec. 5, 1878. Fannie was born in Arkansas in 1861. In 1880 the nearest neighbors of William and Fannie Thorn were the families of Warren Otey, Charity Burton, George W. Johnson, and John H. Carpenter. A number of the members of the Thorn families are buried at the New Friendship Cemetery north of Paragould. THORNE Josiah Thorne(Thorn) was born in North Carolina in 1824. Hiswife, MarthaA., was born in the same state in 1830. In 1850 the family was living in Madison County, Tennessee and they had only one child at this time, James H., born in 1849. During the late 1870's the Thorne family moved to Greene County and settled in Union Township. In 1880 their children still at home were: John T., 1851; Joseph M., 1855; Mattie E., 1859. Martha A., 1860; Emma, 1863; Susanna, 1867; and Nancy J., 1869. Josiah and Martha Thorne are buried at the Gainesville Cemetery. Josiah's marker shows dates of 1823 and 1897. Martha's marker shows a birthdate of 1830 but the date of death is not readable. Other persons bearing the name of Thorne are buried at the New Friendship Cemetery. THRELKELD Charles D. Threlkeld was born in Indiana in 1847. His wife, Henrietta, was born in the same state in 1845. In 1880 this familywas living in Benton, Illinois(Franklin County) and theirchildren were: Helen E., 1875; Mary B., 1878; and Charles A., 1880. Sarah Moore (sister of Charles D., born in Indiana in 1838) was living with the family at this time. Sometime between 1884 and 1900 the Threlkeld family moved to Greene County and settled in Clark Township. By the latter date, two more children had been added to the household: Myrtle, 1882; and Frank A., 1884. In 1916 Charles D. and Henrietta Threlkeld were living at717 North Pruett in Paragould. Charles' occupation is given, in the Paragould City Directory, as "teacher." Charles A. Threlkeld and his wife Lena, lived at 513 East Court at this time and his occupation is listed as "painter." Frank A. Threlkeld lived at 700 North Third during this period and he also followed the painters trade. A number of the members of the Threlkeld families are buried at the Linwood Cemetery in Paragou Id. TOONE The history of the Toone family beginswith James and Elizabeth Toone, born in Virginia in 1807 and 1805 respectively. In 1850 the Toone family was living in Hardeman County, Tennessee and their children at this time were: Mary, 1834; James, 1835; Nan cy, 1838; Ann, 1840; John, 1841; Frances, 1843; Andrew, 1845;and Virginia, 1849. James and Elizabeth Toone stayed in Hardeman County, but at least two of their children came to Greene County, Arkansas. Mary Toone married David Thorn in Tennessee and they moved to Greene County in about 1871and settled in Union Township. David was a Baptist minister at this time. Andrew J. Toone, son of James and Elizabeth, moved with his family to Greene County in about 1872 and settled in Hurricane Township. Andrew and his wife Anna D., had four known children as of 1880: Arthur, 1870; J.W., 1872; Mary, 1873; and Laura, 187 8. Arthur and J.W. were born in Tennessee, but Mary and Laura were born in Arkansas. A George R. Toone also lived in Hurricane Township in 1880 and it is believed that he may have been the younger brother of Andrew. George was born in Tennessee in 1853 and his wife, Julia, was born in Arkansas in 1858. In 1880 they had three children living at home: Cora E., 1877; Joanna, 1879; and James, 1880. In 1880 the nearest neighbors of Andrew and Anna Toone were the families of Albert Segroves, John T. Segroves, James T. Thompson, and Elizie Cribbs. James and Elizabeth Toone, parents of Andrew Toone and Mary A. Toone Thorn, are buried at the Old Toone Cemetery located about three miles northwest of the village of Toone in Hardeman County, Ten nessee. In 1979 the writer visited the Toone Cemetery in Hardeman County and found that James' marker showed dates of Jan. 26, 1807 and Dec. 26, 1881. The marker for Elizabeth had just recently been replaced with a new stone. The new stone indicated dates of April 5, 1805 and Aug. 1, 1868 for Elizabeth. It also indicated that the new stone had been installed by Mr. Erskine Pirtle. Several persons bearing the name of Pirtle are buried in this cemetery. TUCKER Edmund V. Tuckerwas born in Virginia in about 1814. His wife, Elizabeth A., was born in Tennessee in 1822. In 1850 the family was living in Gibson County, Tennessee and their children at this time were: Samuel, 1839; Susan, 1841; Frances, 1844; Mary, 1846; and William, 1849. The Tucker family moved to Greene County and settled in Friendship Township during the 1860's. In 1870 William and Frances Tuckerwere still living with their parents and by this time two more children had been added to the family: S.C. (a son), 1855; and Artemia B. (a daughter), 1861. TYNER John W. Tyner was born in Tennessee in 1827. His wife, Lucinda, was born in the same state in 1824. In 1850 this family was living in Benton County, Tennessee. At this time John and Lucinda had only one child: Davis, born in 1849. During the 1870's John and Lucinda Tyner moved to Arkansas and established their residence in Salem Tonwship in Greene County. In 1880 their children still at home were: Ann, 1852; John W., 1861; James, 1863; and Lafayette, 1866. A William Tyner, bor n in Tennessee in 1853, lived next to the family at this time. It is suspected that William was the son of John and Lucinda. The 1880 census indicates that both parents of John Tyner were born in Mississippi. This census also shows that the parents o f Lucinda Tyner were born in North Carolina. John and Lucinda Tyner are buried at the Fairview Cemeterey west of Paragould. The marker for John shows dates of 1827 and 1884. The marker for Lucinda shows dates of 1824 and 1885. VANGILDER Sarah Vangilderwas born in Kentucky in 1795. The name of her husband is not known. In 1850 Sarah was living in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri and herchildren at homewere: Francis, 1833; Sarah A., 1835; and John, 1838. JamesVangilderand hiswife, Acen th(both born in Missouri in 1825) lived nextto Sarah Vangilder at this time. It seems likely that James was an older son of Sarah. John Vangilder, son of Sarah, moved to Greene County in 1870 and settled in Hurricane Township. He had married a woman named Sarah, born in Tennessee in 1844. In 1880 they were still living in Hurricane Township and their children were: Thomas, 1867; John William F., 1868; James, 1870; Mary A., 1872; Margaret E., 1875; and Sarah E., 1879. Monroe Vangilder(a nephew of John), born in Missouri in 1861, was also a member of the household. John and Sarah Vangilder are buried at the Purcell Cemetery in the extreme southern part of Clay County, Arkansas. The marker for John shows dates of 1838 and 1895. The marker for Sarah shows dates of 1843 and 1922. Several other persons bearing the name of Vangilder are also buried at this cemetery. VOWELL John H. Vowell was born in North Carolina in 1813. Hiswife, Harriet, was born in Tennessee in the same year. In 1850 the Vowell family was living in Weakley County, Tennessee in Civil District 3. At this time their children were: Robert, 1833; Fran ces, 1834; William, 1836; Nancy, 1838; Samantha, 1840; Martin, 1843; Catherine, 1846; and Matthew, 1849. The census recod indicates that Samantha and Martin were born in Missouri and that all the other children were born in the state of Tennessee. If this census record is correct, th e Vowell family moved to Missouri and then returned to Tennessee prior to coming to Arkansas. The Vowell family moved to Greene County in about 1868 and settled in Hurricane Township. Robert Vowell married Martha R. Toone in Greene County on Oct. 20, 1879. Martha was apparently his second wife. In 1880 they lived in Hurricane Township and the ir children at home were: William, 1863; Elizabeth, 1866; Mary, 1871; and Robert Jr., 1873. William and Elizabeth were born in Tennessee and Mary and Robert Jr. were born after the family came to Arkansas. Martin V. Vowell married a women named Mary, born in Tennessee in 1848. In 1880 Martin and Mary were living in Blue Cane Township and at this time theirchildren were: James, 1867; Mary, 1870; Alonzo J., 1875; and Martin V. Jr., 1878. Jameswas born in Tennessee. Maryand Alonzowere born in Arkansas and the census record indicates that Martin V. Jr. was born in the state of Texas. Three servants were also living in the household at this time: Calvin Woods, William Medley, and Weldon Baker. Calvin w as born in Indiana in 1864. William was born in Illinois in 1862 and Weldon was born in Tennessee in 1863. John and Harriet Vowell were still living in Hurricane Township in 1880. There were no children in their household at this time. Their nearest neighbors were the families of John Marcum, William Huckabay, Robe~t Vowell, and James A. Long. Many members of the Vowell families are buried at the Purcell Cemetery in Clay County, Arkansas just north of the Greene County line. In 1850 anotherVowell family lived nearJohn H. and Harriet Vowell in Weakley County, Tennessee. This was the family of J. L. and Melvina Vowell, born in North Caroina and Tennessee in 1816 and 1820 respectively. Their children at this time were: Jame s, 1837; Alfred, 1839; Jackson, 1840; Jasper, 1842; Newton, 1844; Martha, 1846; Araminta, 1848. WALDEN Coleman C. Walden was born in Kentucky in 1821. By 1850 he was living in Haywood County, Tennessee and his children at that time were: Wiliam H., 1841; and John C., 1848. John and Lucinda Tyner are buried at the Fairview Cemeterey west of Paragould. The marker for John shows dates of 1827 and 1884. The marker for Lucinda shows dates of 1824 and 1885. As of 1880 their children were: Edward, 1865; John, 1867; J ames B., 1869; Rosalie, 1872; William, 1874; Walter B., 1876; and George W., 1879. All these children were born in Tennessee. Elizabeth Martin, mother-in-law of William, was living with the family at this time. Elizabeth was born in Tennessee in 1810 . William H. Walden died in 1927 and was buried at the Gainesville Cemetery. His wife, Harriet, died in 1886 and is also buried at this cemetery. WALK A. Walk was born in North Carolina in 1813. The name of his wife is not known. In 1850 the Walk family was living in Tipton County, Tennessee and the other members of the household were: Joshua. 1823; Susan, 1839; Thomas, 1840; Sarah, 1842; Augustus, 1844; Lucy, 1846; and Ransom, 1848. Augustus Walk, son of A. Walk, came to Greene County sometime between 1880 and 1900 and settled in Clark Township. He is buried at the Linwood Cemetery in Paragould and his marker shows dates of 1844 and 1909. His wife, Mollie L., is also buried at t his cemetery and her marker bears dates of 1839 an 1905. WARREN The history of the Warren famil y begins with John and Rachel Warren, born in North Carolina in 1796 and 1797 respectively. John and Rachel (Hunt) Warren were married in Caswell County, North Carolina on June 15, 1817. In 1850 John and Rachel were living in Giles County, Tennessee in Civil District three. At this time their children were: David, 1828; Mary, 1831; Louisa, 1833; Elmina, 1835; and William, 1838. David's occupation is listed, in the census, as "teacher ." David Warren married while still in Tennessee and his wife was named Lucy J., born in about 1834. David and Lucy moved to Greene County in about 1857 and settled in Union Township. As of 1860 they had two children: Alice, 1856; and Ezra, 1858. Alice was born in Tennessee and Ezra, in Arkansas. By 1870 five move children had been added to the family of David and Lucy Warren: Ida, 1860; Osmer (a son), 1852; Mackey, 1864; Clara, 1866; and Minnie, 1868. David's occupation is listed in the census record, as "minister." In 1880 the Warren familywas living in Union Township and one more child had been added: Albert, 1871. David's occupation is listed in the census as "County Court Clerk." The nearest neighbors of David and Lucy at this time were the families of Emma Gray, James Thomason, Lindal Hampton, and James T. Carrol. Ezra Warren first married a woman named Annie, born in Arkansas in 1860. Annie died in 1883 and Ezra married Laura Kennady in Greene County on Jan. 1, 1885. Laura was nineteen years of age at the time. Ida Warren married George W. Walden in Greene County on Aug. 10 1880. George W. was twenty- three years of age at the time. He was the son of William H. and Harriet Walden. The Walden family lived in the same general neighborhood asthe Warren family in 1880. Several members of the Warren families are buried at the Gainesville Cemetery. David (D.B.) Warren is buried there and his marker shows dates of 1827 and 1894. Apparently there is no markerfor his wife, Lucy. Ezra and Annie Warren are also buried the re. Other persons bearing the name of Warren are buried at the New Friendship Cemetery. In 1850 another Warren family was living very near John and Rachel Warren in Giles County, Tennessee. This was the family of Henry and Mary Warren, born in North Carolina and Tennessee in 1818 and 1821respectively. Their children at this time were: J ames, 1839; Nathan, 1842; George, 1844; John, 1846; and Melissa, 1848. WATSON I George W. Watson was born in North Carolina in 1808. Hiswife, Frances, was born in the same state in 1809. In 1850 the familywas living in Gibson County, Tennessee and their children were: Mary, 1830; Peter, 1832; Luke, 1834; William, 1836; John, 183 8; Sarah, 1841; Rebecca, 1843; and Amanda, 1847. By 1870 George and Frances Watson had moved to Greene County and settled in St. Francis Township. Their daughter, Harriet (born in Tennessee in 1856), was living with them at this time. Peter Watson, son of George, married a woman named Martha C. while still in Tennessee. By 1870 this family had moved to Greene County and settled in Cache Township. Their children atthis time were: Elizabeth F., 1853; John W., 1855; Sarah J., 1857; M ary E., 1861; and Robert Lee, 1864. Elizabeth and John were born in Tennessee, but the other three children were born in Missouri. In 1880 George W. and Frances Watson were living in Poland Township and there were no children in their household. At this time Peter and Martha Watson were still living in Cache Township and one more child had been added to the family: Benjamin, bor n in 1876. Monroe and Luke Witcher, twin grandsons of Peter, were also present. Monroe and Luke were born in 1874. WATSON II Larner Watson was born in Virginia in 1796. His wife, Nancy, was born in North Carolina in 1789. In 1850 the family was living in Benton County, Tennessee and their children still at home were: Sarah, 1826; Hugh, 1828; and Eliza, 1828. The census rec ord indicates that Hugh and Eliza were twins. During the late 1870's Hugh P. Watson and his family moved to Greene County, Arkansas and settled in Union Township. As of 1880 the other members of Hugh's household were: Martha, 1845; Jenetta D., 1863; Sallie Ann, 1867; Lukea L., 1869; David R., 18 73; Lucian, 1875; George W., 1877; and Luten Lula (a son), 1880. Dossy P. Nowell, born in Tennessee in 1855, was a servant in the household. WEATHERLY W.M. Weatherly was born in North Carolina in1804. His wife, Anny, was born in Virginia in 1807. In 1850 this family was living in Madison County, Tennessee and their children at this time were: Caroline E., 1828; JamPs, 1829; Mary, 1831; Robert, 1833 ; William, 1835; Sample Houston, 1837; Wright, 1841;Nancy, 1841; John, 1843; Richard, 1845; and Alexander, 1849. This surname has been recorded as "Weatherby" in the 1850 Census Index for Tennessee. W. M. and Anny Weatherly had at least four sons who migrated to Greene County, Arkansas. These were: William,Sample Houston, Wright,and Richard. William Weatherly married awoman named MaryA., born inTennessee in 1836. Thefamilycameto Greene County during the 1870's and settled in Union Township. In 1880 theirchildren were: William J., 1858; and Robert, 1862. Sample Houston Weatherly married a woman named Martha A., born in Tennessee in 1838. (According to Vivian Hansbrough, author of the History of Greene County, Martha's maiden name was "Valentine.") Sample H. and Martha came to Greene County in about 1 867 and settled in Friendship Township. As of 1880 theirchildren at home were: Texanna, 1868; Mosie E. (a daughter), 1871; Eldridge M., 1873; Florence E., 1875; Egbert E., 1876; and Cornelia A., 1879. Wright Weatherly married a woman named Mary E., born in Tennessee in 1840. They moved to Greene County in about 1876 and settled in Union Township. As of 1880 their children were: James, 1866; Frank, 1869; John, 1874; and Thomas, 1878. Thomas was bor n in Arkansas but all the older children were born in Tennessee. Richard Weatherly married a woman named Annie C., born in Tennessee in 1854. They came to Greene County in 1879 or 1880 and settled in Union Township next to William Weatherly. In 1880 their children were: Mollie B., 1876; and Walter B, 1879. Most of the members of the older generation of Weatherly family are buried at the New Friendship Cemetery. Other persons bearing this name are buried at the Linwood Cemetery in Paragould. In 1850 another Weatherly (Weatherby) family was living next to W.M. and Anny Weatherly in Madison County, Tennessee. This was the family of James and Nancy Weatherly, both born in North Carolina in 1801. Their children at this time were: Lucius L., 1833; Elias B., 1836, Ann, 1838; and Adeline, 1843. WEAVER David Weaver was born in Tennessee in about 1833. His wife, Nancy J., was born in the same state in about 1836. In 1880 the family was living in Lawrence County, Tennessee and their children were: Lettie A., 1861; Milly J., 1864; Samuel L., 1866; Sar ah C., 1869; Alice E., 1871; Evaline, 1874; and Lillie B.C., 1876. Samuel and Lilly B. Edmondson, born in Tennessee and 1874 and 1876 were also members of the household. By 1900 David and Nancy had moved to Greene County, Arkansas and settled in Clark Township. Their daughter, Evaline, was living with them at this time. Luther Holt, a grandson, born in Tennessee in 1890 was also present. David Weaver's occupation is listed, in the census record, as "blacksmith." An article commemorating the birthday of David Weaver appeared in the Dec. 8, 1920 issue of the Paragould Soliphone. According to the article, David was born at the foot of the Cumberland Mountains near Winchester Tennessee. As of 1920 he had been a blacksmith for sixty-four years. David reported to the newspaperthat his father, Peter, lived to be ninety-eight years of age and that his grandfather, John, lived to the age of one-hundred and five years. In 1916 David Weaver and his wife, Lucy, lived at 602 North Second in Paragould. David's blacksmith shop was located at 317 North Pruett. WEBER Micajah Weberwas born in Virginia in 1811. Hiswife, Martha, was born in Kentucky in 1822. In 1850 this family was living in Clark County, Missouri and their children were: Henry, 1844; Louisa A., 1846 Matilda, 1848; and Thomas, 1850. All the children were born in Missouri. Sarah Maddox, born in Missouri in 1835, was also a member of the household. Henry Weber (Henry Bascom Weber) married a woman named Elizabeth, and they moved to Paragould sometime after 1900. As of 1916, Henry was employed as a salesman for W.J. Beard's Temple of Music in the City. Henry B. Weber died in 1919 and his obituray appeared in the Nov. 7, 1919 issue of the Paragould Soliphone. This obituary indicated that he was born in Clark County, Missouri. He was survived by his wife, a daughter (Mrs. Clyde A. Mack), and a son (V ictor Weber of Los Angeles, California).Henry was buried at the Linwood Cemetery in Paragould. Clark County, Missouri cemetery records show that Micajah, Martha, and Thomas Weber were buried at the Weberfamily Cemetery in Washington Township. Micajah died in 1882; Martha J., in 1884; and Thomas, in 1888. WHITE Flavius S. White was born in Tennessee in about 1825. His first wife, Emily J., was born in Virginia in 1827. In about 1850 this family was living in Claiborne County, Tennessee and they had one child, Amanda L., born in 1850. James M. Willis, born i n 1839, was living with the family at this time. Emily J. White died during the early 1850's and Flavius married a woman named Emily C., born in North Carolina in 1825. By 1860 Flavius and Emily C. had moved to Greene County and settled in Concord Township. By 1860 three more children had been adde d to the household: Franklin P., 1853; Margaret, 1855; and John P., 1857. These children were born in Arkansas. Apparently Emily C. White died during the 1860's. Flavius later married Sarah F. Middleton. Sarah was the daughter of B.F. and Jane Middleton, born in North Carolina and Virginia in 1801and 1806 respectively. In 1850 B.F. and Jane Middleton were livi ng in Gibson County, Tennessee. In 1880 Flavius and Sarah F. White were living in Union Township of Greene County, Arkansas and by this time several more chiidren had been added to the family: George W., 1862; James A., 1867; Emily F., 1868; Flavius, 1869; Richard, 1871; MaryJ., 18 73; Leila B., 1876; Robert E., 1878; and William, 1879. Jane, Albion P., and Eugenia Middleton (mother, brother, and sister of Sarah F. White) were also members of the household at this time. Flavius White's occupation is listed, in the census record , as "sheriff." WH ITSITT James M. Whitsitt was born in Tennessee in 1850. His wife, Sarah Elizabeth, was born in the same state in 1852. In 1880 this family was living in Weakley County, Tennessee and their children were: Horace, 1878; Ernest, 1878; and Pauline, 1880. James and Sarah E. Whitsitt moved to Greene County sometime between 1880 and 1900. By the latter date they had settled in CIarkTownship, and four more children had been added tothe household: Belle, 1883; Thomas, 1884; Etta, 1885; and Mattie, 1888. In 1916 Horace Whitsitt and his wife, Blanche, were living at 706 Kingshighway in Paragould. James M. and Sarah E. Whitsitt were living at 202 South Second at this time. Thomas Whitsitt and his wife, Lucille, lived at 418 West Park in the City. James M. and Thomas Whitsitt worked forthe railroad as co nductor and brakeman respectively. A number of the members of the Whitsitt families are buried at the Linwood Cemetery in Paragould. James and Sarah are buried there and their markers indicate that James died in 1926 and Sarah, in 1933. The marker for Horace Whitsitt shows dates of 18 74 and 1918. The marker for Belle Whitsitt bears dates of 1881and 1957. WILKINSON Pleasant Wilkinson was born in Missouri in 1824. Hiswife, Lucinda, was born in Tennessee in 1825. In 1850 the Wilkinson family was living in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri. During the late 1860's the Wilkinson family moved to Greene County and settled in Hurricane Tonwship. As of 1870 the children in the family were: Barbay, 1850; David, 1852; Margaret, 1853; William D., 1856; Angeline, 1856; Artemesa, 1860; Martha C., 1863; and Joel P., 1865. All the children were born in Missouri except Joel P. who was born in Illinois. Evidenlty Pleasant's wife, Lucinda, died sometime between 1870 and 1877. Pleasant married PerIinaClippard in GreeneCountyon Dec.7, 1877. Perlinawasfifty-sixyearsofageatthetime. In 1880 Pleasant and Perlina lived in Hurricane Township and five of the children were still in the household. Their nearest neighbors at this time were the families of James T. Thompson, Elizie Cribbs, Samuel B. Barton,and Daniel Cribbs. The burial place of Pleasant Wilkinson is not known. However, it is known that some persons bearing the Wilkinson name are buried at the Hartsoe Cemetery west of Marmaduke. WINN I Samuel C. Winn was born in Tennessee in 1820. Hiswife, Catherine J., was born in South Carolina in about 1830. In 1850 the family was living in Carroll County, Tennessee and their children at this time were: Alva E. (a son), 1847; and Yancy, 1848. Ja ne Carleton ,born in South Carolina in 1800, was living with the family at this time. There is reason to believe that she was the mother-in-law of Samuel Winn. Samuel Winn moved to Greene County during the 1870's and settled in Poland Township. In 1880 theirchildren still at homewere: Millard, 1857; Emerson, 1859; Mollie, 1862; William, 1864; and Louisa, 1867. Alva E. Winn married Emma Jernigan in Greene County on May 11, 1876. WINN II The reader is referred to the Winn sketch appearing in Volume I of this book. Since the writing of that sketch, one new bit of information concerning this family has been discovered: Minor M. Winn married NancyYarbory in Gibson County, Tennessee on M arch 15, 1846. As indicated in the original sketch, this family was living in Carroll County, Tennessee in 1850. WITCHER Henry Witcher was born in Tennessee in 1809. His wife, Martha A., was born in South Carolina in 1819. In 1850 the family was living in Gordon County, Georgia and their children were: William A., 1842; Elizabeth C., 1844; Lucy B., 1846; Henry B., 1848 ; and Martha, 1847. During the 1860's the Witchers moved to Greene County and settled in Cache Townshi.p. By 1870 four more children had been added to the family: Susan C., 1850; Samuel, 1853; Mary S., 1856 and James, 1862. William A. Witcher married a woman named Martha, born in Georgia 1847. In 1870 they were living in Cache Township and their children were: Henry H., 1866; and John M., 1869. Elizabeth Witcher, born in Tennessee in 1803, was living with the family at this time. Henry Witcher Jr. married a woman named Elizabeth born in Arkansas in 1852. In 1880 they were living in Cache Township and their children at this time were: Alexander, 1875; Henry, 1877; and Mary, 1879. 1880, Henry Witcher Sr. had died and Martha was the head of her own household at this time. She lived next to her son, Henry,and his family. Her daughter, Mary Bird, and granddaughter, Martha Bird, were also members of the household. WOODS John J. Woods was born in Virginia in 1812. His wife, Dorothy, was born in the same state in 1816. In 1850 the Woodsfamilywas living in Cannon County, Tennessee in what was known as"Nichols the First District." At this time their children were: Edmund L., 1838; Mary J., 1840; Dorothy A., 1842; Henry C., 1844; John W.H., 1846; William F., 1848; and Richard, 1850. All these children were born in Tennessee. In about 1855 the family moved to Greene County and took up residence in Union Township. By 1860 three more children had been added: Charles, 1850; Winfield, 1853; and Jane L., 1854. All were born in Tennessee. Henry C. Woods married a woman named Carolina, born in Tennessee in 1850. By 1880 Henry C. Woods was living in Friendsh ip Township. H is wife at this time was named Charity, born i n Tennessee in 1846. John W. Woods' wife was named Elizabeth, born in Tennessee in 1846. In 1870 they were living in Friendship Township. Chalres Woods married Sarah C. Trantham in Greene County on Dec. 18, 1877. Their first child, Allie, was born in 1879. In 1880 Charles and Sarah were living in Hurricane Township. In 1870 John J. and Dorothy Woods were living in Friendship Township and it is believed that they spent the remainder of their lives there. A number of the mer~bers of the Woods families are buried at the New Friendship Cemetery north of Paragould. WORELL Peter Worell was born in Virginia in 1800. The name of his wife is not known with certainty. In 1850 Peter Worell was living in Madison County, Tennessee and his children were: Eliza, 1826; Corda, 1830; MaryJ., 1831; Elizabeth, 1833; Newsom, 1835; Wi lliam, 1837; and Missouri, 1841. A Richard Worell, born in 1805, was living with the family at this time. William Worell, son of Peter, and his wife, Ann, came to Greene County in about 1869 and settled in St. Francis Township. As of 1880 their children were: Newsom, 1860; John, 1863; Bell, 1868; and Luiza, 1871. Luiza was born in Arkansas but all the ot her children were born in Tennessee. William and Ann Worell are buried at the Linwood Cemetery in Paragould. A Ruth E. Worell is buried nearby, but the dates on the stone are difficult to read. In 1850 another Worell familywas living next to Peter Worell in Madison County, Tennessee. This was the family of Henry and Lucinda Worrell, born in Virginia and North Carolina in 1828 and 1827 respectively. They had no children at this time. WRIGHT Hezekiah B. Wright was born in Tennessee in 1829. The name of his first wife is not known with certainty. In 1850 Hezekiah was living in Humphreys County, Tennessee and he had two sons at this time, William and John, both born in 1849. During the 1850's the Wright family moved to Greene County and settled first in Union Township. Hezekiah's wife is listed in the 1860 census as "Martha J." Martha was born in North Carolina in 1827. William Wright, son of Hezekiah, married a woman na med Mary J., born in Tennessee in 1852. In 1880 the family was living in Hurricane Township and their children were: Marshall B., 1875; William, 1876 and Margaret, 1878. John Wright, son of Hezekiah, married a woman named Rebecca J., born in Kentucky in 1853. In 1880 the familywas living in Hurricane Township and their children were: James, 1873; Mary, 1876; and Rosella, 1878. A servant, George W. Duffel, was also in the household at this time. Hezekiah Wright lived to the ripe old age of ninety-two. His obituarywas carried in the Jan. 27, 1922 issue of the Paragould Soliphone. The obituary listed his birthplace as Obion County, Tennessee. He was buried at the Wright Cemetery located five miles northwest of Marmaduke.
