They continued to be residents of the Fairview Community for the remainder of their lives. Mary Sutphen died in 1947 and was buried at the Fairview Cemetery. Her marker shows dates of November 27, 1859 and March 6,1947. Willard H. died on February 1,1956 and his obituary appeared in the Paragould Daily Press. He was sticken suddenly as his neighbors (Roger and Norman Cole) were delivering a load of hay to his farm. Willard was buried at Fairview near Mary Sutphen. In 1981 the writer visited Shelbyville, Indiana in order to obtain information regarding the Meyer family. The May1,965 issue of the Shelbyville News carried the obituary of Ethel Meyer Chapman, sister of Willard H. Meyer. Her home had been at 124 East Taylor in Shelbyville. She had been ill for six years and died at the Ace Placid Nursing Home after a stay of a few weeks. Ewing Mortuary was in charge of her funeral service and she was buried at the Forest Hill Cemetery next to her husband, Harry Chapman. The obituary indicated that she was the daughter of Henry H. and Annie M. (Buskirk) Meyer. She was born in Huntersville, Indiana. She had married Harry Chapman on October 15,1910. The couple had lived in Montana and Oregon. Also surviving was a sister, Mrs. Henry(Ruth) Wiggin of Canton, South Dakota. At the present time (1981) Mrs. Wiggin lives in a nursing home in Canton. Ethel Meyer Chapman was buried at Forest Hill Cemetery in section one, lot 238 near the sexton's office. Other members of the Chapman family are buried nearby: Harry C.(1882-1953); William(1888-1962); Franklin P.(1853-1927); and Mary(1858-1936). The 1928 City Directory for Shelbyville, Indiana shows that Willard H. Meyer was a teacher and resided at 710 Elm with his brother-in-law, Harry Chapman. After moving to the Fairview Community in Greene County, Willard was offered a postion as teacher of the Palestine School. However, he declined the offer, being more interested in farming. Willard Meyer and the writer's father were good friends and neighbors. Both enjoyed discussing politics and world affairs. Although some of their discussions appeared to be rather heated, they remained friends and corresponded with each other even after the Rowland family moved to another state. At the time that Willard and his Aunt Mary were living in the Center Hill Community, the Great Depression of the 1930's was well under way and many of the country roads had fallen into disrepair. The road leading to Aunt Mary's house was especially bad. She often said, in reference to her home, "this is the end of the world". Aunt Mary had an old trunk which was filled with wonderful things which she had collected. On one occasion she took out a bag of old coins and gave the writer (a boy of ten at the time) an 1835 United States penny. It was a prized possession for some time but, unfortunately, it was later lost. At another time, the writer recalls, Aunt Mary stuffed his pockets with peanuts saying, "Don't tell Willard--he's saving these for seed." Willard never missed the peanuts andhad enough left for the next planting. MIKEL James D. Mikel was born in Missouri in 1864. His wife, Lucinda, was born in Illinois in 1871. The article dealt with the Colonel's activities in connection with prohibition. The June 2, 1920 issue of the Soliphone carried an announcement to the effect that Col. Morgan was to become a candidate for a seat in the Arkansas Legislature. A message from the Colonel accompanied the announcement. The message was a work of art of this master of the English language. James and Vivian were born in Arkansas, but all of the other children were born in Tennessee. The name of Henry E. Nooner's father is not known. However, Henry's mother was Malinda Harkey Nooner, born in North Carolina in 1848. Malinda was the daughter of R. and Margaret Harkey who are shown in the 1850 census for Weakley County, Tennessee. Malinda Harkey Nooner is also shown in the 1860 census for Weakley County as a member of her mother's household. Margaret Harkey is buried at Center Hill. Imogene Nooner, daughter of James, was once a teacher at the Center Hill School. She later married Barney Horn. They are now retired and live in Paragould. He had married a woman named Winnie M. and there were no children in their household at this time. Andrew R. Oxley and his family were living in the same neighborhood in Union Township. Andrew was born in Missouri in 1862 and it seems possible that he was the son of William Oxley. In 1900 a George M. Partlow and his family were living in the twenty-second district in Wilson County. His children at this time were: Cloe,1852; William A., 1868; James R.,1870; and Haywood R.,1876. The Goodspeed History indicates that the parents of Thomas A. Partlow were Thomas and Cloe (Hooker) Partlow. Evidently Thomas Partlow Sr. died at some time prior to 1850. The 1850 census for Wilson county shows his widow, Cloe (Cloa), along with her children: Joshua, 1829; Ann, 1831; Nancy, 1833; Johnathan, 1833; Mary, 1836; Robert, 1839; Rebecca, 1840; and Sarah, 1843. Ann Hooker, born in 1769, was also a member of the household. Apparently Ann was the mother of Cloe Hooker Partlow. In 1850 Thomas A. Partlow and his wife, Margaret, were living next to Thomas' mother, Cloe. Thomas and Margaret had only one child at this time. This child was named Elizabeth, born in 1849. Goodspeed's History indicates that Thomas A. Partlow was married three times. His first wife was Margaret Williamson and they were married on May 19,1847. Margaret died on January 20,1859 and 1863 Thomas married May Ann Robbins. May Ann died a few months afterward. In 1866 Thomas married Martha E. Wray (Ray), born in 1836. Martha was the daughter of William and Martha Wray. (See microfilm page 940 of the 1850 census of Wilson County, Tennessee.) Martha was the mother of William A., James R., Natlie M., and Haywood R. Partlow. Haywood R. Partlow came to Greene County, Arkansas sometime during the early 1900's. Haywood Riddle Partlow worked in the field of education for many years. He later became a lawyer and as of 1916 he was a partner in the practice of law with J.C. Shane and they had their office in the McHaney Building in Paragould. Haywood and his wife Alice, lived at 1015 West Emerson at this time. In 1939 Haywood R. Partlow had his law office at 5-6 Crowley Building in Paragould. He and his wife lived on route five. James K. Partlow, son of Haywood, established an abstract and title office in his father's law firm. At a later time James K., set up an abstract office on route five near his home. James and his son, Charles, were partners in this company for many years. Charles was mayor of Center Hill during the time that it was an incorporated town. Center Hill later became a part of the city of Paragould. At the time of this writing (1981) Charles is the mayor of Paragould (Charles remained mayor until 1998). A personal item appearing in the October 22,1919 issue of the Soliphone indicated that H.R. It should be pointed out that, although Crockett County was legally formed in 1845, no census was taken for this county, as a separate governmental unit, until 1880. For this reason the Permenter people may have resided at the same place in 1850 as they did in 1880. Crockett County was formed, in honor of David Crockett, from parts of Dyer, Gibson, Madison and Haywood Counties. Henry C.Permenter, son of Ruffin g., married a woman named Alma, born in Tennessee in about 1875. By 1900 Henry and Alma were living in Clark Township in Greene County, Arkansas.
