He was born Feb. 8, 1915, in Morgan County, Ala. He was a retired sheet metal worker and a farmer. He was a member of Grace United General Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Edna Cannon of Marmaduke; three sons, Bobby Cannon, David Cannon and William Cannon, all of Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters Zelda Green of Memphis and Christine Coy of Lake City; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould with Dan Minton officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. ****************** Bertie Lucille Morgan, 87, of St. Louis, Mo., died Tuesday, October 28, 1997, at DesPeres Health Care in Des Peres, Mo. She was born August 4, 1910, at Beech Grove. She was a homemaker and a member of McKnight Church of Christ in St. Louis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burley Morgan; her parents, Ezekiel and Maggie Lee Lumplin Boyd; two brothers, Bud Boyd and Pink Boyd; a sister, Effie Boyd; and a grandchild. Survivors included four daughters, Jackie Bilpush, Linda Riek and Brenda Roberts, all of St. Louis, and Essie Burlison of House Springs, Mo.; a sister, Vickie Hicks of St. Louis; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. A grave side service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Linwood Cemetery in Paragould with Robert Wigginton officiating. Heath Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. No visitation is planned. ****************** Hoyte Winston NORTON, 69, of Paragould died Tuesday, October 28, 1997, at his home. He was born July 6, 1928, in the Hooker community. He was a retired truck driver for Southern Pacific and a member of Lafe Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and O'Dell Norton; a brother, Jack Norton; and a sister, Janice Glazier. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Norton of Paragould; a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Karl Hamblen of Paragould; a sister Janola Miles of Paragould; two grandchildren, Clint Beliew and Melanie Beliew, both of Paragould; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould with M.E. Prince and David Poe officiating. Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be made to St. Bernards Hospice or to the building fund of Lafe Baptist Church. ****************** Pearl OWENS, 67, of Marmaduke died Monday, October 27, 1997, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould. she was born Nov. 25, 1929, in Dyer County, Tenn. She was a homemaker and of Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, L.J. Owens; her parents, Will and Tressie Moss; and a son Gale Owens. Survivors include three sons, Sherrell Owens of Brooksfield, Fla., William Owens of Greenway and Eugene Owens of Oklawaha, Fla., four daughters, Linda Stokes of Rector, Geneva Estes of Mounds, Nadine Johnson of Oklawaha and Virginia Beltran of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, Thomas Allen Moss of Kennett, Mo; 19 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; three nieces; and four nephews. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector with the Rev. Jim Parrish officiating. Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway. Visitation will be tonight 6 to 9 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Dennis Tinsley, Lee Owens, Jeff Davis, Gerald Myers, Nick Austin, Joe Williams and John Estes. ****************** Lillian Minnie RUSCH, 89, of Paragould died Monday, October 27, 1997, at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould. She was born Sept. 22, 1908, in Beech Grove. She was a homemaker and a member of the Beech Grove Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ezekiel and Mary Jane Breckenridge Williams. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould with the Rev. Jim Thresher officiating Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Paragould. Pallbearers will be Gaylen Williams, Moyl Williams, Mike Taylor, Danny Ryan, Shannon Underwood and Charles A. Smith. The family request memorials be made to Beech Grove Methodist Church or First United Methodist Church.
