He was born Dec. 30, 1945, in Miligan Ridge, was an employee of Tenneco Automotive-Monroe and of Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Allen. Survivors include his wife, Pat Allen of Paragould; his mother, Oma Allen of Paragould; a son, David Allen of Paragould, a brother, Richard Allen of Brandon, Miss., two sisters, Karen Brown of Walcott and Debbie Forkum of Paragould; and two grandchildren, Brandi Allen and Logan Allen. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould with Marion Gramling officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Harold Diggs, Jim Diggs, Randy Reeves, Tab Forkum, Wendell Dennis and Danny Brown. The family requests memorials to be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital or the American Cancer Society. ****************** James William Clester, 58, of Lafe died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1997, at his home. He was born Jan. 6, 1939, in Greene County. He was a farm worker and of Church of Christ belief. He was preceded in death by his father, John William Clester. Survivors include his mother, Bertha Martin Clester of Paragould, two brothers, Junior Clester of Paragould and Donald Clester of Lafe; a sister, Lucinda Forbs of Paragould; and a half-sister, Wanda Lee Summers of California. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould with Larry McFadden officiating. Burial will follow at Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be William Vance, Larry Howard, Kenneth Howard, Mark Phillips, Tommy Rogers and Harold Jackson. ****************** Sylvia Houston GRAMLING, 75, died Oct. 25, 1997, near Ocean Side, Calif. She was born Nov. 28, 1921, in Light. She was preceded in death by her parents, James C. and Bobbie Parker Houston, and a sister, Alma Houston. Survivors include a son, Gary Gramling of San Diego, Calif,; a daughter, Elizabeth Gramling of Altadina, Calif.; four sisters, Thelma McMillon and Lois Lewis, both of Wichita, Kan., Nadean Orvins of Fort Worth, Texas, and Earline Norwood of Conway; and four grandchildren. Arrangements are pending at Rose Hill Chapel in Whittier, Calif. ****************** Dovie HOLCOMB, 82, of Knobel died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, in Paragould. She was a homemaker and member of Stonewall Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Eugene Holcomb, her parents, Waford David and Cora Farmer; and twin children, Aubery Holcomb and Audrey Holcomb. Survivors include six sons, W.D. Holcomb of Knobel, Leland Holcomb of Dardanelle, Elwin Holcomb of Flint, Mich., Bill Holcomb of Monette, Bryon Holcomb of Clio, Mich, and Gary Holcomb of Paragould; four daughters, LeWanda Liles of Monette, Doretha Langston and Betty Holcomb, both of Paragould, and Partricia Wellman of Marmaduke; 35 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Stonewall Pentecostal church with the Rev. Jerry Loyd officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Jonesboro. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. ****************** Richard E. Wood, 51, of Marmaduke died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould. He was born Oct. 29, 1945, in Newberry, Mich. He retired from General Motors and was a member of Marmaduke General Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ida Mitchem Wood, Sr., a daughter, Bonnie Claspell; and three brothers, Norman Wood, Harry Wood, and Robert Wood. Survivors include his wife, Carol Ellington Wood of Marmaduke; a son, Joseph Wood, Sr. of Marmaduke; a daughter, Amy Wood of Langburg, Mich.; two brothers, Marlin Wood and George Wood, both of Battlecreek, Mich.: seven sisters, Beverly Smith and Ethel Claspell, both of Newberry, Sharon Dunlap and Judy Roach, both of Echerman, Mich., Georgia Compton of Flint, Mich., and Wanda Kanflstorfer of Battlecreek; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Marmaduke General Baptist Church with Jerry Cavaness officiating. Burial will follow at Harvey's Chapel Cemetery in Marmaduke. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight and Friday night at Irby Funeral Service in Marmaduke. Pallbearers will be James Ellington, David Ellington, Charles Nicely, Richard Weatherspoon, Grady Arnold and Jeff Arnold.
