Officiating will be Rev. Greg Barker, pastor of Haynes Avenue Baptist Church where Mrs. Greer was an active member for more than 42 years. Assisting will be her son, James W. Greer. Following the funeral service, burial will be in Springdale, LA at the Springdale Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation for the family will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2001. Mrs. Greer died Tuesday, January 23,2001. She was born in Ozan, AR in 1918 and was a resident of the Shreveport area for more than 60 years. She worked for the P&S Hospital for many years and retired from the Caddo Parish School System after 20 years of driving a school bus. Her joy in life was caring for her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful caregiver to family, friends and neighbors in need. Mrs. Greer was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Odessa Holliday Jackson of Sardis Community in Arkansas; one brother, Bobby Jackson; two sisters, Delois Jackson Freeman of Bossier City, LA and Martha Jo Jackson Buckner of California. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Autry Elton Greer of Shreveport, LA; two daughters, Patricia Greer Even and husband Robert of Shreveport, LA and Anita Greer Jacobs of Shreveport, LA; two sons, A. Elton Greer II and wife Pat of Shreveport, LA and James W. Greer and wife Debbie of Alexandria, LA; nine grandchildren, Kenneth and David Jacobs, Pateece and P.J. Davis, Tonya Greer Benefield and husband, Bob, Jennifer and Trey Greer, Shannon Greer Anderson and husband, Roger and Jimmy Greer and wife, Lisa; ten great grandchildren; one sister, Billie Jackson Talley and husband Art of Shreveport, LA; and one brother, Billy Edward Jackson and wife Linda of Ringgold, LA. Pallbearers will be Ken Jacobs, David Jacobs, Jimmy Greer, Robert Even, Ricky Hebert, Tracy West, Roger Anderson, Bill Jackson and Bob Benefield. A special appreciation to Dorothy Carter for the tender loving care given to Mrs. Greer and a special thanks to the members of Live Oak Retirement Center.
