His last Will and Testament is filed in Will Book C- Hempstead County, Arkansas and reads as follows: In the name of God, Amen. I, Daniel Grounds of the County of Hempstead in the State of Arkansas, Being of sound mind and memory, and considering the uncertainty of life in this world, do therefore make ordain, publish, and declare this to be my last will and testament: That is to say, first, after all my lawful debts are paid and discharged the residue of my Estate, real and personal, I give and bequeath unto my daughter, Frances,(the south west quarter of the southwest quarter of section eight, in township twelve south, of range twenty seven west, also give 3 cows and calves, also household and kitchen furniture: I give unto her all the above mentioned property forever. All the rest of my property, real and personal, I desire to be equal divided among all my children, my daughter Francis not excepted, I want my son John Grounds to wind up my business according to my last will and testament, after my decease. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal, this the 11th day of November, 1870. Arkansas is John Grounds last will and testament. It reads as follows: In the name of God-Amen I John Grounds of the County of Hempstead in the State of Arkansas, being of sound and disposing mind and memory and reasonable physical health, but recognized the uncertainty of death, do make and publish this my last will and testament as follows, to wit: First I give and bequeath to Daniel J. Grounds my son one dollar, Second I give and bequeath to my son John H. Grounds one dollar, Third I give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Ratliff one dollar, Fourth I give and bequeath to Minta Francis Jones my daughter one dollar, Fifth After the payments of all my just debts and funeral expenses, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Martha Jane Grounds all the rest and residue of my estate, both real and personal, and for the maintenance and education of her children, during her natural life, and at her death to be equally divided among and ? in her said children, my heirs, share and share alike.
