I , Absolom Mading , of the County of Hempstead and the State of Arkansas, being weak of body but of sound and disposing(?)---- mind do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills and testaments by me made. First, I will and direct that my body be decently buried as my Executor herein afternamed shall direct and that all my just debts be paid out of my estate. I then further will and bequeath unto my slaves Jacob and Clary their freedom from servitude and bondage to every and all persons whatsoever after my death and I will and bequeath unto my slaves Mary , Emerline , William, Moses, John ,and George, children born of said Clary and all children hereafter born of the said Clary their freedom from servitude and bondage from every and all persons whatsoever after my death. I further will and bequeath unto my slaves Ruth and Ellick, Frank, Jeremiah, Green, Washington, and Robert children of said Ruth their freedom from servitude and bondage to every and all persons whatsoever after my death.I further will and bequeath unto my said slave Jacob all the carpenter tools which he has been accustomed to use to have and to hold the same in addition the freedom as aforesaid. I further will and bequeath unto John Mading,son of Robert Mading ,my mare now running in the prairie and one hundred dollars to be paid in a bank note for that amount. I further will and bequeath unto Winnefora Cravens the sum of three hundred dollars, and I further will and bequeath the residue of all my estate both personal and real unto my legal heirs. And I hereby constitute and appoint Thomas Hubbard , the said executor of this my said last will and testament and direct that the said Thomas Hubbard execute the same without being required to give docum----(?)-. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto left my hand and seal the second day of July A.D. 1837. A. Mading Witnesses:Wm Clark,F.W. Campbell,William Heffington State of Arkansas County of Hempstead I,Allen M Oakly, clerk of the Circuit Court and Ec- offices Recorder for the county aforesaid do hereby certify that the annuned and forgoing instrument of writing was filed for the Record in my office on the 31st day of July A.D. 1837 and the same is now duly Recorded in the Will Book A pages 144 and 145. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto left my hand and affixed seal of my office at Washington the 31st day of July the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven and of the Independence of the United States the C 2nd.(?) Oakly clk and ex office Recorder Sate of Arkansas County of Hempstead Clerks office of Hempstead County Court In Vacation 31st July 1837 This day Thomas Hubbard produced to me in my office a paper writing purporting to be the last will and Testament of Absolom Mading deceased in which the said Thomas Hubbard was appointed sole executor thereof and thereupon came William Clark , Frances W. Campbell and William Heffington , subscribing witnesses thereunto and subscribed the following affidavit that the said Absolom Mading subscribed the said paper writing with his own proper hand and seal and declared the same to be his last will and testament in their presence and that they severally subscribed their names to said paper writing as witnessed thereto the --- William Heffington by his mark in the presence of each other and in the presence of each other and in the presence of the said Absolom Mading and that the said Absolom Mading was in his own proper mind and senses at the time the execution of the same and at the time and date thereof Witnesses: William Clark, F.W.
