RAY "SHORTY" DAVIDSON

Ray "Shorty" Davidson, 88, of Benton died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1997, at his
home.  He was born July 17, 1909, at Brown Springs, to the late Henry and
Gussie Hixon Davidson.  He was a heavy equipment operator for the
International Paper Co., and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Davidson of Benton;  one son, James
Davidson of Traskwood;  three daughters, Alta Gifford of Little Rock, LaNell
Davis of Benton and Sue Yarbero of Traskwood;  four sisters, Ora Tugwell of
Little Rock, Eunice Gray of Brown Springs, Maxine Lequieu of Collegeville and
Edna Marie Jameson of Camden;  10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildre.

Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 29, 10 a.m., in the chapel of Atkinson
Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Brush Creek Cemetery, Leola, under the
direction of Atkinson Funeral Home.  Pallbearers will be Kenneth Gifford,
Michael Gifford, Donald Davis, Ronald Davis, Randy Davidson and Winston
Davidson.  Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 28, 7-9 p.m., at the funeral
home.
