William S. Garner was born near Batesville, Ar. on 12-15-1874 as the 
only son of Samuel S. Garner and Mary Ellen (Soward) Garner.  He 
married Martha Bell Dickey, who was born in Al. on 10-03-1876.  He had 
four sons and lived in Cord, Ar. and worked for Dr. MacAdams in his 
peach orchard.  His wife died in 1936. Later in life he moved to 
Jonesboro, Ar. to live with one of his sons. He died in Jonesboro on 
11-01-1954 and is buried in Hopewell Cemetery next to his wife in 
Cord, Ar.
