Cleveland Banner (Tennesseee), 18 Jan 1872
Moses FORD, Deputy Sheriff at Batesville, Arkansas, was killed at Batesville a few 
days since, by a negro with an ax.  He attempted to arrest the negro, and burst 
his cabin door open, when a scuffle ensued during which the negro wrestled an az 
from him, and after knocking Ford down, struck him as he lay prostrate, killing 
him instantaneously.
