Humphries, 79-year-old resident of Neely Street, died Tuesday in a Little Rock hospital. Born in Helena, he was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church and a merchant, and had spent most of his life in Batesville. He is survived by a son, Kenneth; two daughters, Mrs. Irene Cook of Melbourne and Mrs. Velma Pearson; two half-brothers, Tenny Ellis Winkle of Mount Pleasant and George Winkle of Texas; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:00 at Calvery Baptist Church, with the Rev. Vernon Bellue officiating. Burial was in Barren Fork cemetery (Mount Pleasant) by Crouch Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Stanley Guthrie, Olen Winkle, Hassell Marshall, Billy Goodin, Eldon Hager, Floyd Massey, Johnny Thompson, and George Williams. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. L.T. Evans, Dr. Walter O'Neal, Dr. Nixon, Dr. Sheffield, the staff of the Baptist Hospital in Little Rock and business associates of the deceased.
