Harring, and James Logan Morgan" "Cole Cemetery is located in a fenced tract of two acres in the northwest corner of the NW 1/4 of the SW 1/4 of Section 30, Township 13 North, Range 2 West, about 1/3 mile west of Tuckerman on the road to Elgin. There are many unmarked graves, and many graves marked with plain stones. Inventoried 5 Dec 1976." Stockard, the historian, interviewed Uriah Cole. 'Uriah Cole lives in the house his father built in 1847.' She quoted him: 'When we came, in 1847, in wagons from Tennessee, the first thing we did was to cut a board tree to make a shed and go under it. It was February. We built a cabin and began clearing land.... East of us our nearest neighbor lived seven miles away.' The Cole house was located near the southwest corner of the NW 1/4 [of the] SW 1/4 [of] Sec. 30, TWP. 13 N., Range 2 W. The house site is located on the west side of Hwy. 37."
