E. Davis. Active pallbearers were Clarence Brand, Oscar Woodard, Marsellus Bennett, J. P. Dunahay, Jim Moorehead, Harold Henley, Nathan Bennett and George Woodard House. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Holden, Fred Holden, Robert G. Holden, Joe Nuckolls, Bill Nuckolls, Charles Shaver, R. M. Twyford, Ransom Smith, P. L. Copeland and Alvis W. Jackson. Burial was at Gracelawn Cemetery at Tuckerman by Jacksons' Newport Funeral Home. Unknown paper --------------------------------------------------------------------- Mrs. Alice May Morrow Mrs. Alice May Morrow of the Airbase, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thelma Hisler Thursday at the age of 59. Survivors include her husband, John Morrow; two daughters, Mrs. Thelma Hisler and Mrs. Myrtle Rivera, both of Newport; one brother, Charley Crisher of Newport; one half sister, Mrs. Pearl McDaniels of Grand Rapids, Mich; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel by Howard Griner of Tuckerman. Burial was in Greenhaw Cemetery. ----------------------------------------------------- Unknown paper JOHN GRIZZLE John Grizzle, Route 1, Jacksonport, a retired farmer, died Monday in a local hospital. He was 75 and a Baptist. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mae Grizzle; six sons, Charlie Grizzle of St. Louis, MO., Marvin Grizzle of Flint, Mich., Houston Grizzle of Newport, Jesse Grizzle of the Newport Airbase, Kenneth Grizzle of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Harry Grizzle of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Kemp of Flint, Mich.; a brother, Charlie Grizzle of Grubbs; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Grant of Newport; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Diaz Baptist Church by the Rev. Delton Cooper, pastor. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery by Dillinger Funeral Home. ----------------------------------------------------------- Unknown paper and dates Mrs. Myers Dies Thursday Night Mrs. Zella Myers, aged 86, of Route 2, Newport, died Thursday, June 23, at a local hospital. She was a native of Indiana and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include six sons, W. J. Myers, Oscar Myers, Ralph Myers, Fred Myers, Clay Myers, and Coy Myers all of McCrory; four daughters, Mrs. Cronia Pledger of Union Hill, Mrs. John Gaines of St. Louis, Mrs. Rota McDonald of Augusta and Mrs. Mary Barnes of Newport; and 33 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Courdneck Church of Christ. Burial was at Sand Hill Cemetery at Auvergne by Dillinger Funeral Home. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unknown paper and dates Mrs. Armstrong Dies Sunday Mrs. Mabel Craft Armstrong, longtime Newport resident, died unexpectedly Sunday night at her home at 901 Holden. She was 75. Mrs. Armstrong was the wife of County Clerk Joe Armstrong. She was born at Beebe on September 17, 1885 and was the daughter of J. T. and Nora Hackney Craft. A member of the Umsted Memorial Methodist Church, she and Mr. Armstrong were married at Diaz on July 27, 1904. They came to Newport in 1917. Other survivors include a son, Major Tom Armstrong of Little Rock; two daughters, Mrs. Vardaman Fox and Mrs. Dewey Buffington, both of Newport; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Umsted Memorial Methodist Church by the Rev. Frank Weatherford, pastor. Active pallbearers were Aden Williamson, Clyde McDonald, Leon Hogan, Clint Massey, Joe Brownd, Jr. and Cornelius Hurley. All county officials served as honorary pallbearers. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery by Dillinger Funeral Home.
