Hankins Sr., 102, of Bobo Road, a retired schoolteacher and farmer, died Sunday at his home. Born Jan. 5, 1885, in Ranger, Texas, he was a son of Henry Allan Hankins and Mary Louiza Dean Hankins. He moved from Texas to Glendale at the age of 2. He attended college at Gorman, Texas, and then taught school in several areas of Texas and Arkansas. He married Annie Wilson Hankins on March 5, 1910. She died in October 1949. He was a member of Greenlee Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Lonnie T. Hankins Jr. of Pine Bluff, Naomi Farrell and Evelyn Ashcraft, all of Pine Bluff, Ann Welch of Redfield and Jessie Tucker of Sheridan; a brother, Douglas Hankins of Texarkana; 14 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great- grandchildren; and five great-great-great-grandchildren. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greenlee Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joe W. Whitley and the Rev. Jimmy Watson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park North Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Mortuary. Pallbearers will be James Brown, Charles Farrell, Billy Farrell, Robert “Buck” Welch, David Hankins and Lewis Lunsford. The family will be at the home. The family has asked that memorials take the form of contributions to Greenlee Baptist Church.
