Wayne Nixon gwn71667@yahoo.com June 2, 2009, 1:29 am "Pine Bluff Commercial" Pine Bluff, Jefferson Co., Arkansas Issue of Thursday, January 27, 1955 Pg. 12 Deaths, Funerals Mrs. Ada McGehee Dies at Home Here Mrs. Ada Ellen Nixon McGehee, 86, widow of Robert Lee McGehee, died last night at the family residence, 303 East 12th Avenue [Vaugine Township, Pine Bluff Ward 1]. The daughter of the late Andrew J. and Fanny Atkins Nixon, she was born in Lincoln County [s/b Jefferson Co - Lincoln Co not created until 1871]. She was educated at the Kersch Boarding School in Star City and taught in the rural schools in Lincoln county until her marriage in 1893. She had been a resident of Pine Bluff since 1904. She had been a member of the Lakeside Methodist Church since 1904 and had been active in church work since she was a young woman. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. [sic - s/b Miss] Florence MGehee of Pine Bluff, Mrs. John T. Stilwell of Altheimer and Mrs. Ada Lee Holzhauer of Bellingham, Wash.; three sons, A. Madison "Matt" McGehee, J. Jackson McGee and William Henry McGeee of Pine Bluff; six grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 from the chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son mortuary by the Rev. R. H. Cannon. Burial will be in Bellwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be W. E. Cromer, Chieftain S. Tucker, Jacob Levine, Harry Levine, Toney Dalby and C. Ed Tuck.
