Freeda R. Townsend Hodges, 71, died May 26, 2006, at Fayette County Hospital 
in Vandalia, Ill.

She was a native of Clarksville, daughter of the late Frank R. and Sarah J. 
Jones Townsend, widow of Arthur B. Hodges, Baptist, and retired U. S. Postal 
employee in St. Louis, Mo.

Survivors include four children, Arthur R. Hodges of Auxvasse, Mo., James E. 
Hodges of Fresno, Calif., Beverly A. Gerlach of Vandalia, Ill., and Linda S. 
Yates of Eureka, Mo.; one brother, Leon Townsend; one sister, Nina Scott-Bahr; 
nine grandchildren, Nicole Y. Hodges, Andreya D. Hodges, Bradley E. Hodges, 
Amanda M. Hodges, Crystal L. Hodges, Kate A. Gerlach, Anna J. Gerlach, Keith 
E. Yates, and Tricia R. Yates; and one great-grandchild, Katherine Y. Cretel.

Funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, at the First Baptist Church of 
Wentzville, Mo., with Rev. Dan Rush officiating.

Burial was at Mount Zion Cemetery in O'Fallon, Mo., under the direction of 
Baue Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, Route 3 Hwy. 185, Vandalia, 
Ill., or the American Cancer Society
