CW2 RICKY C. GODBOLT 

Born in Buckner, Arkansas in 1959. Joined the US Army in 1977 and 1981.  
Selected as the 19th Engineer Battalion NCO of the Quarter in 1983. Selected as 
Instructor of the Year at the US Army Prime Power School in 1991, thus becoming 
the first Mechanical Training Instructor and African American to accomplish this 
feat. Wrote the first Hazardous Waste Handling Standing Operating Procedure for 
the US Army Prime Power School at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Awarded the US Army 
Certificate Of Achievement in Safety for work at the US Army Prime Power School. 
Named to the Fort Belvoir, Virginia Education Center Honor Role in 1991 and 
1992. Awarded the Association of the United States Army Scholarship for academic 
excellence in 1992. Graduated Magna Cum Laude from Park College with a 3.75 
grade point average in 1993. Elected to The PINNACLE National Honor Society in 
1994. Achieved a perfect 4.0 academic grade point average at the Hobart School 
of Welding Technology in 1990. Became the first African American and the first 
graduate of the School for Extended Learning to become a Charter Member of the 
Howard Bailey McAfee Heritage Society at Park College in 1997. Awarded the Army 
Commendation Medal four times; the Army Achievement Medal nine times; the Army 
Good Conduct Medal five times; the Humanitarian Service Medal two times; the 
Certificate Of Achievement seven times; US Army Mechanics Badge in 1979; the Air 
Assualt Badge in 1985; the US Army Special Operators Badge in 1991; the US Army 
Drivers Badge in 1992; the National Defense Service Medal in 1992; and the US 
Army Superior Unit Award in 1993.
