SPECIAL ( THE OLD OAK GROVE (PATTERSON CEMETERY CENSUS) Provided by Mary Ann Hastey Oglesby Genealogy notes, who has been my inspiration and mentor in my quest for knowledge of my ancestry. May my mother continue to guide and help me and find peace and joy with those ancestors she researched for so long a time. ===================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing Free information on the Internet, material may be freely used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material, AND permission is obtained from the contributor of the file. This cemetery has long been abandoned and a new one formed, descendents of these people still know it exists. Two huge gnarled oak trees remained there in the mid 60’s when the list was compiled. When the white men started settling in Arkansas they found the territory inhabited by many Indian tribes. Chiefly around the Oak Grove area and when planting time came many artifacts were found during the planting and after rains. Osages, Caddoes, and Quapaws were the main tribes here. My brother and I filled many happy hours walking up and down Bodcau Creek Banks in search of relics of the past. Here we found bird points, grinding stones, axes, and many other interesting pieces. A most interesting find some years ago was crystal points that proved trade and commerce from the Indians in our area to the Indians in Hot Springs where the crystals came from. This is the completed list of the Old Patterson (Oak Grove Cemetery) should there be more additions that you know of please let me know and will check and see if it should be added. Happy Hunting.
