Crouch and R.L. Box officiating.Burial will be in Sand Flat Cemetery in Van Zandt County. Mrs. Elkins died Wednesday April 26, 1976 in a Tyler hospital after a short illness. She was a native of Star City, Arkansas, Garrett Community. Born to Joseph Lindsey and Leona Ester (Crotts) Whisenhunt November 4, 1899. She was a 10-year resident of Smith County, Tx. Moving here from Denver, Colo. She was a retired hospital employee, and a member of the Silver Lake Baptist Church. Preceded in death by one daughter Lavern Gross. Survivors are one son, Vernon R. Oats of Odessa, one Brother, John Whisenhunt of Grand Saline: One sister, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Carpenter of Grand Saline; three grandchildren. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
