Turn left on 116 Jack Creek Road. Travel on Jack Creek Road past the Old Sanatorium for about 4 miles to the Ephraim Davis Cemetery Road. Burnett Cemetery is on the north side of the Davis Cemetery; travel through a gate into a pasture. Pass through the pasture/electric utility easement to the right to another gate. The cemetery is in the middle of this pasture. There is a metal sign with “Burnett Cemetery” posted. The property is owned by Mr. J. W. Swint. The cemetery was taken care of for many years by members of the Garner Family. It was neglected for many more years until about 1996 when Ann and Fred Luningham of Russellville, Arkansas cleaned up the cemetery. They have had it fenced in and placed the cemetery sign. They mow the cemetery and place flowers on all the graves. The cemetery was used from the 1850's to 1913. The last known burial was that of John Dalton in 1913. The next to last person buried there was Elias Benjamin David Burnett, who died on October 24, 1906. The name apparently comes from this grave and his family members. There are 46 graves in the cemetery. All are marked at the head of each grave with a stone. Each stone is narrow and 2 to 3 feet long and were apparently placed on the grave at the time of the interment. They are various heights but are in rows evenly spaced. This information was submitted to me by Michael Barton (jmichaelbarton@hotmail.com) who is a cousin of Ann Luningham and they are the great-great grandchildren of Elias and Mary Burnett. We thank them for their hard work and for sharing this information with genealogy researchers everywhere. My only contribution to this survey was typing it and submitting it to the Tombstone Transcription Project.
