Today saddened hearts mourn his passing and friends bow their heads in grief, because a long and useful life has ended. Just a plain citizen, content to plod his weary way down the highway of life among the humble folks, he yet made for himself a place in the life of the community that will be hard to fill. No man had more friends, and no man was truer to his friends. No man man was ever more devout and earnest in his religion or truer to his church and to his God. No man ever loved his family more or was more kindly in their presence. Can any man, no matter how high in life he goes, attain a greater honor than this. To us, the greatest honor that could be won, and the greatest eulogy that could be written is this. He loved little children and they loved him. John Wann was a children's favorite and his greatest pleasure was in making them happy. John Wann came to Booneville about twenty six years ago, after having lived the greater part of his life in and near Batesville, Arkansas. Early in life he united with the Missionary Baptist Church but later he found his church home with the Apostolic religion, and lived a consistent member of this church until his death at Greenwood, AR at the home of his daughter last Sunday, July 25th. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Booneville on Monday afternoon, Rev. R. B. Carter and Rev. J. N. Pennington officiating. Mr. Wann is survived by two children, Will Wann of Booneville and Mrs. Lucy Manning of Fort Smith, also two brothers and three sisters. Henry Wann of Muldrow, Oklahoma, Will Wann of Fort Smith, Mrs. Lissie Walker of Booth, AR, Mrs (can't read) of Booneville, and Mrs. Robert Hopson of Fort Smith, besides a host of relatives and sad friends. We join in extending sympathy to those bereaved. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Booneville Democrat, Thursday October 29, 1936 IN MEMORIUM In memory of Henry H. Wann, who went out to meet the Lord October 20, 1936. Henry Wann was born May 19, 1866 near St. Joseph, MO. This world has a vacant place which no one can fill but he has filled a place in Heaven that he would not exchange for all this world, with all its beauties that will fade away some day. He was a light and a consolation to all he met for his conversation was on Heaven and Heavenly things. He gave his life to God in the days of his youth and always chose to do the right thing. He chose to do unto others as he would have them do unto him. He was honest with God and his fellowman and he was always willing to suffer the wrong in all his dealings with everyone. He will be greatly missed by every one who knew him, but our loss is Heaven's gain. He fought a good fight; he finished his course. He kept the faith and is gone to receive his crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge has given him. He just fell asleep in Jesus to rise in the first resurrection. Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He that believeth in me though he were dead, yet shall he live; for this we say unto you by the word of the Lord. That we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep, for the Lord himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the arch angel, and with the trumpet of God and dead in Christ shall rise first, then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord and our loved ones that have gone on before." Our dear brother leaves a wife, Mrs. Mattie Wann, of Muldrow, OK; two daughters, Mrs. Johnny Owens and Mrs. Rose Eubanks, of Muldrow, OK and five sons, Charlie Wann, William Wann, Otis Wann, of Muldrow, OK; and Robert Wann of CA; one brother, Will Wann of Fort Smith; and four sisters, Mrs. Ethel Hopson of Fort Smith; Mrs. Lissie Walker, of Boothe, AR; Mrs. E. G. Goff and Mrs. R. D. Anderson, of Booneville, AR and a host of friends to mourn his going, but we may all be of good courage, and I know the dear Lord will stregthen our hearts, if we live a life as our dear brother lived we will meet him over on the golden shore where heart aches, sickness and death and sad partings come no more. One who loved him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Booneville Democrat May 3, 1979 Martha Mae Wann Martha Mae Wann, Booneville, died April 29 in Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith.
