He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder and a Sunday School Superintendent. He was a graduate of Lonoke High School and attended Hendrix College. He served in U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired rice, bean and wheat farmer. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Elmore Lawson of Lonoke; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Dinah Lawson and children, Casi and Jerry, all of Sherwood; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Chris Shaw and children, Jana and Chase Shaw and Courtney and Christin Busby all of Bryant; his mother, Harriet Elcan Lawson of Lonoke. Services will be today, October 1, 1998, at the First Presbyterian Church of Lonoke, with Rev. Steve Rembert officiating. Pallbearers will be Jim Flynt, Walls McCrary, Billy Elmore, Bobby Parks, Howdy Frisby, Larry Schafer, John Ford Watson and Smith Price. (Bob) Wooten, age 70, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 1998, in his home in Carlisle. He was a former resident of Lonoke and Logan County. He was a retired musician, radio broadcaster, farmer and bailiff at the Lonoke Court House. Survivors include wife, Pat; son, Ronald; daughters, Beverly Marsh and Barbara Hoffman; stepdaughters, Melissa Zimmerman and Michelle Roloff; sister, Mattie Sue Adams; 11 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. There will be a private memorial service and the family requests that any contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. She was born Dec. 1, 1930, in Monticello, Ark., to Ivy and Virgie Stuart Lane. She was a Baptist. Survivors include one brother, James "Buddy" Lane of Crossett, Ark.; two sisters, Carol Raub of Dallas, Texas, and Betty Barnes of Gainesville, Ala. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Charles Miller officiating. Kimbrell, 59, of Cabot, passed away Friday, Oct. 2, 1998. He was a Baptist minister who had surrendered to the ministry at age 17. He had pastored churches across Arkansas for over 20 years. He was also very active in the chaplain program at Tucker prison, and was instrumental in organizing the first chapel at the prison. He was preceded in death by his father, John F. Kimbrell; and daughter, Sherry Kimbrell. Survivors include wife, Sue Kimbrell, of Cabot; son, John K. Kimbrell, of Vilonia; mother, Eva Mae Lane, of Pine Bluff. He had two grandchildren. Services are Monday, Oct. 5, 1998, 10 a.m., at Victory Baptist Church in Cabot. He died Oct. 3, 1998, St. Vincent Hospital. He is survived by wife, Jackie Haigwood; daughters, Amanda and Heather; son, Bobby; sister, Amber; brother, Daniel all of North Little Rock; uncle and aunt, Ralph and Beatrice Haigwood, a cousin, Deborah Blakely of Scott, Ark. He leaves behind very special friends, Pat Stalter and Mattie Bratton. Allen was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Haigwood and Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Johnson. He was born July 1, 1928, at Monroe County, Iowa. Retired from Thermogas and member of Cabot United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by his parents, Loren Charles and Larue Foster Buckingham; brother, Ronnie; sister, Dorothy. He was born Feb. 11, 1917, In Arkansas City, Ark., a son of Charles Arthur Townsend, Sr. and Caroline Dickerson Townsend. Mr. Townsend was a retired proofreader with DP&L Printing Company and a member of First Baptist Church of Perryville. He was the former president of Harris Brake Lake Association, a charter member of Pro-Am Golf Association of Arkansas, a 1935 Little Rock High School golf champion, a 25 year F.O.E. member and a lifetime supporter of Ducks Unlimited. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marie Pope Townsend; sons, Tommy Townsend of Little Rock and Jerry Wayne Townsend of Perryville; daughters, Barbara Phillips of Carlisle and Carolyn Freeman of Little Rock; sisters, Catherine Stoffa of Texas and Helen Hood of Little Rock; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three nephews; one niece; and many loving and loyal friends. Visitation will be Thursday, 7 to 8 p.m. at funeral home. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ARK DEMO-GAZ, THURSDAY, 8 OCT 1998 CARLISLE - Junior Aaron McFarlin, 65, of Carlisle, Ark., died Oct. 6, 1998. He was born in Evening Shade, Ark., on June 2, 1933, to the late Ky and Vera McFarlin. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, a retired rancher and farmer. J. A. McFarlin was a member and former deacon of the Palm Street Church of Christ in Lonoke. He was an Army veteran and served in the Korean Conflict. He served on the Carlisle School Board for 10 years and was the president for three years. His family was chosen Lonoke County Farm Family of the year in 1974. He was selected as the Arkansas and the Southeastern United States Cattleman of the year in 1975. He served on the Lonoke County Conservation District Board of Directors. He was on the Harding University President's Development Council. He was the founder and president of the Grand Prairie Fox Hunters Association for several years. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jean and their three children, son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Lisa McFarlin, a daughter Teresa Simpson, all of Carlisle, a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Tim Flatt of Memphis, Tenn.; and six grandsons, Clay, Cody, David, Kevin, Ky and Brandon. He was preceded in death by a brother, Riley H. McFarlin, and a sister, Marie Kissee. He was a security guard for the Federal Reserve Bank and a farmer; a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon; the former owner of Porcelain Patch and Glaze Company; instrumental in the organization of the Rose City Youth Athletic Association. He is survived by his wife, Delores Eugenia Bowls of Keo; and two sons, William Stewart Bowls and his wife, Lynn of Keo and Anthony Alan Bowls of Little Rock. He is also survived by his mother, Anna Belle Bowls Burleson of Jacksonville. He was the loving grandfather of five grandchildren, all of Keo. Other family survivors are cousins, Curtis Bowls, Jr. of Keo, Lillian Harris of Searcy, Bonnie Chandler of Galitan, Tenn. and Geraldine Shackleford of Germantown, Tenn. He also leaves a host of family and friends. He was a farmer and a surveyor. He was a member of the Coy Church of Christ. She was born in Romance, Ark., Sept. 19, 1921. She graduated from McRae High School in 1940 and attended Beebe Junior College for a year and then went to Draughon School of Business in Little Rock where she graduated. Mrs. Tucker worked for Reiser Hill Ordinance Plant in Jacksonville during World War II. She became Cabot City Clerk in 1957 and retired in 1982. She then went to work at Cabot High School cafeteria, retiring after 14 years in 1996. She was very active in her church and worked in the nursery and sang in the choir for over 40 years. She loved to sing Christian music and sang in the Kensett Trio in her late teens. She loved people and was loved by many. She'll be missed by all who knew her. Surviving are her daughter, Phyllis LaBell of Henderson, Nev.; her son, Phillip Tucker of Cabot; two grandsons, Tony LaBell of California and Todd LaBell of Henderson, Nev.; one brother, John Thomas Morgan of Las Vegas, Nev. He was born Dec. 11, 1910, in Rison, Ark., to John and Mary Henderson. Mr. Henderson was a member of a family of seven children. The five brothers were more than 50 year members of the England Masonic Lodge. Mr. Henderson was a member of the England First United Methodist Church, one of the founders of the England Country Club and served as the first president. He was a farmer and an enthusiastic sportsman. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Winn Henderson; three brothers, Ed, Hollie and Basel Henderson; one sister, Eva Mae Taylor, and a daughter-in-law, Lauren Kay Henderson.
