She was the daughter of Elijah and Alberta George, who preceded her in death. She served as Yeoman 3rd Class in the aviation branch of the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was an active member of Ward United Methodist Church, serving as Music Director and as a Sunday School teacher. She was instrumental in organizing the Ward Chamber of Commerce and organized their annual banquet in its early years. She worked at the Citizens Bank of Carlisle and at Arkla Gas Co. until she became ill. Glover, age 78, of Lonoke died Friday, April 3, 1998. He was a retired owner of the Lonoke Recreation Parlor and a Methodist. He served in the CCC from 1940 to 1941 in Idaho. Mr. Glover was the son of Joe Charlie and Ollie Glover. Survivors are one brother, Jimmie D. Glover, Little Rock; one brother-in-law, Owen L. Jones, North Little Rock; one nephew, Danny Glover, Lonoke; one niece, Betty Greene, Sherwood; Two great-nieces; one great-nephew, and one great-great-niece. Graveside service will be Monday (6 Apr 1998), 2 p.m., with burial in Glover Cemetery by Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mon, 6 Apr 1998 LONOKE -- Fred William Caldwell, 80, of Lonoke died Saturday (4 Apr 1998) after an extended illness. He was born in Houston, Arkansas, on Apr 4, 1918, the youngest of nine children born to Augustus and Mary Louise Caldwell, all of whom preceded him in death, except for one sister, Gussie B. Jones, of Little Rock. He is survived by his wife, Polly of the home; one daughter, Pollyanne Bermingham; one granddaughter, Aimee Bermingham of Atlanta, Georgia; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, John and Jean Coger of Ft. Smith; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Caldwell retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service and retired again after 23 years of owning and operating a nursery in Augusta, Georgia. He was well known for his prize-winning orchids which he shared with friends and patients in nursing homes and hospitals. He was a devoted member of the Lonoke Baptist Church and leaves behind a host of church family who meant so much to him. Services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, Apr 7, 1998, at Lonoke Baptist Church by Rev. Jimmy Wallace. Commital service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday (7 Apr 1998) at Oak Grove Cemetery in Conway. He was a retired dairy farmer and member of Oakdale Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Maysel Jackson Wilson and a host of other friends and relatives. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Moore of Cabot; his mother, Alma Pryor of Holly Springs, Miss; one son, Thomas W. Carole was born in Detroit, Mich. on March 12, 1940, was raised in England Ark., and moved to California in 1959. Carole lived in San Carlos, Calif. for 34 years. She was an active participant in the community, involved in such groups as Junior Matrons, Newcomers Club, Chicken's Ball, Bridge, P.T.A., Bobby Sox softball and Los Danceros. She is survived by two beloved daughters, Marsha Woodell Donahue, 40, Of England, Ark., and Patricia Kangas Walker, 36, of Tarzana, Calif; Four grandchildren, Tawny Shinell Adams, 17, Courtney Lindell Donahue, 12, Andrew Kangas Walker, 5, and Kirstyn McNairy Walker, 4. He was born February 5, 1921, in Lonoke County to the late Charles W. Wilson and Bealie Wilson. He was a retired farmer and a WWII Navy Veteran (torpedoman first class on the USS Phillip). He was a member of the Lonoke Baptist Church. He loved to fish and spend time at Greer's Ferry Lake. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joyce Wilson; a daughter, Emily Roberts; a son and daughter-in-law, Page and Cary Wilson; grandchildren, Greg Horness, Alison Roberts, Ian Wilson and Mary Elizabeth Wilson, all of Lonoke. He is also survived by two sisters, Flora Morrow of Lonoke and Goldie Compton of Little Rock; and a brother, Joe Wilson of Lonoke. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 20, 1998, at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Lonoke Cemetery by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke. Radcliffe, 83, a resident of Lonoke for 45 years, died at his home April 27, 1998, following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Selma Young Radcliffe of Chicago, Ill. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruby Knox Radcliffe; a daughter, Diane Strickland of Lonoke; one grandson, Stan Strickland of New York City; and a sister, Blanche Nelson of Houston, Texas. Mr. Radcliffe graduated from Lane Technical High School, Chicago, Ill. and UALR, Little Rock. He worked 35 years for the Arkansas Employment Security Division, retiring in 1980. As Job Bank Coordinator, he directed the installation of a centrally controlled computerized job bank system for the entire state, which was completed in 1972. As a member of Illinois National Guard, he was called to active duty March 1941, and was discharged November 1945. He was a First Sgt. with the 66th Infantry Division, which was honored for heroic duty in Europe during World War II. He also lost many good friends and war buddies during this time. He was an active member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Lonoke. Services will be conducted by Rev. Steve Rembert at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church, 314 South Center Street, with interment at the Lonoke Cemetery by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.
