He was born Jul 3, 1906, in Milan, Tenn. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry Lee and Geordia Brown Lessenberry of Wynne, Ark. He is survived by his wife, Martha Sullivan Lessenberry; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Sandy Lessenberry of Hope; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Randy Leddy of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; six grandchildren, Donna Freel Childress, Monty Freel, Lee Lessenberry, Carol Freel Brouwer, Michael Leddy and Lee Leddy; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Lessenberry was a member of Lonoke Baptist Church and was a retired cotton warehouse superintendent. He worked for Southern Compress Co. and managed its Lonoke facility for over 30 years. Services will be Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at 3 p.m. at Lonoke Baptist Church by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Youth Fund of Lonoke Baptist Church, Lonoke, Ark., or to First Presbyterian Church, Hope, Ark. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 Aug 1998 CABOT -- Bennett M. Wilson, 75, of Cabot went to be with our Lord, Friday, July 31, 1998, at his home. He was born April 7, 1923, in Augusta, Ark., the son of Carl D. and Rosa A. Wilson. As a Marine, he served his country during World War II, and saw action in the Pacific including the bombing of Pearl Harbor and Bouganville. He spent his working years after the war as a journey man electrician and was a member of IBEW #295. A member of Marshall Road Baptist Church (Jacksonville, Ark.), he was an ordained Baptist deacon; he was also a member of Mount Sinai Lodge and a master Mason. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary E. Wilson; three daughters, Rose Wilshire of Little Rock, Margaret "Butch" Lucas of Cabot, and Karen Wilson of Cabot; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Wilson of North Little Rock, and Don Wilson of Vilonia. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at the chapel of Griffin Legget-Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7224 Landers Road, North Little Rock, (501) 835-3515, with Rev. Cliff Hutchins officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the building fund of Marshall Road Baptist Church. LONOKE -- Thelma McIntyre Hall, 92, of Lonoke died July 31, 1998. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Thelma Hicks. Survivors are three daughters, Wyona DeViney of Lonoke, Doris Peters of North Little Rock, and Rose Bigelow of Natchez, Miss.; one brother, Sam B. McIntyre of Lonoke; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services are 2 p.m. Monday (3 Aug 1998), at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Brownsville Cemetery by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke. Survived by her husband, Clement J. Springer of the home; son, Donald Hemm of Cornell, Wis.; three daughters, Elizabeth Hemm of Sheldon, Wil., Frances Perry of Pottsville, Pamebrella Hemm of Fox Lake, Ill.; four sisters, Lou Mae Taylor of Little Rock, Margie Ann Wooten of Austin, Mattie Lee Baldwin of Austin, Pauline Leslie of Cabot; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. CABOT -- Syble Inez Armstrong Colter, age 55, of Cabot passed away Thursday, July 30, 1998. She was a member of the Church of God in Austin and retired from the Department of Human Services. Preceded in death by two brothers, Elbert Buddy Keathley and Ronnie Keathley. She is survived by her husband, John Colter of Cabot; son, Wendell Green of Cabot; three daughters, Patricia Hardenstine of Etters, Pa., Mary Hammett and Dianna Roe of Cabot; mother, Ruth Holmes of Jacksonville; brother, Bobby Keathley of Jacksonville; nine sisters, Doris Cecil of Philpot, Ky., Shirley Young of Ward, Tiny Hill of Warren, Patsy Kirsch of Sherwood, Lenora Smith of Little Rock, Terry Scroggins of Harrison, Tanga Meyers of Jacksonville, Nyanna Crow of Jacksonville, Katherine Simpson of Jacksonville; and eight grandchildren. Charles Chesser, age 76, of Carlisle, a retired Baptist Minister, died Wednesday (5 Aug 1998). He was in the ministry for over 45 years, pastoring several churches during that time. The last church he pastored was the Fir Baptist Church in Carlisle, where he served for over 25 years before his retirement. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Hazel; three sons - Larry, Paul, and Mark Chesser; four daughters -- Ann Brumbelow, Becky Perkins, Mary Kelly, and Karen Narrell; four brothers - Gus, Don, Henry and Zane Chesser; and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday (7 Aug 1998) at the First Baptist Church in Carlisle with burial in the Carlisle Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. today (6 Aug 1998) at Wesbrook Funeral Home in Hazen. ENGLAND -- Bob Williams, age 66, a resident of England, formerly of Wye Mountain, died on Sunday, August 2, 1998. A sheet metal worker, he is survived by his wife, Christine Williams; nine children, Tom Williams and Jimmy Williams, both of Redford, Mich., Patty Perry of Farmington, Mich., Nancy Boykin of Roland, Ark., Jerry Cory of Howell, Mich., Robin Reed of Calhan, Colo., Robert Williams, Jr. of Ukiah, Calif, Jewell Tufford of Scott, Ark., and Carl Williams of Little Rock; and numerous grandchildren; brothers and sisters. Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Mulberry Cemetery in England. Arrangements by Wilson-Stephens Funeral Home Inc. of England. SCOTT -- Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Tarkington, age 82, of Scott, Ark., died Tuesday (4 Aug 1998) at Four Oaks Living Center in Little Rock. She was born Feb 28, 1916, in Malvern, Ark. She was a homemaker, former president of the Heritage Garden Club in England, Ark., and was a member of the Garden Club of North Little Rock. She was a member of the First Christian Church. The widow of Robert Wilson Tarkington, she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Bob Tarkington and wife, Tisha of Marshall, Texas, Jerry Tarkington of North Little Rock, Ark., and Jim H. Tarkington and wife, Janet of Hot Springs, Ark.; one brother, Wayne Eskue of Waterproof, La.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday (7 Aug 1998) at the First Christian Church in Stuttgart with burial in Lone Tree Cemetery by Funeral Home of Stuttgart. The family will be at Turpin Funeral Home for visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight (6 Aug 1998). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 7 Aug 1998 ENGLAND -- Marjorie Lavonne Sladyen, age 71, of England, wife of Leon "Bill" Sladyen, died Thursday, August 6, 1998. Funeral services are set for Saturday (8 Aug 1998) at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Wilson-Stephens Funeral Home in England. Brother Bill Hansell will officiate. Interment will be in Mulberry Cemetery. Family hour will be today (7 Aug 1998) from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. LONOKE -- Ernest E. Folsom, 74, of Lonoke died Aug 5, 1998, in Jacksonville. He was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Folsom, and is survived by his mother, Winnie Sarah Folsom of Lonoke; brother, William Folsom of Lonoke; a niece and three nephews. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday (8 Aug 1998) at Edgewood Memorial Park, conducted by Roller-Owens Funeral Home. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 8 Aug 1998 LONOKE -- Nicholas Wesley Jackson, 4, died August 6, 1998. Survivors are his parents, Chris O'Neal Jackson and Nashun Magdalena Gross; grandparents, Jim and Cynthia Jackson of Lonoke, Kenneth Gross of Jacksonville and Magdalena Gross of California; uncles, Brandon Jackson of Florida and Manny Gross of Tennessee; aunts, Lena and Kimberly Gross, both of California, and LaTrese Gross of Tennessee; and great-grandmother, Peggy Jackson of Carlisle. Visitation at the funeral home will start at 5 p.m. today (8 Aug 1998).
