All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** Madison County Record, Huntsville, AR dated Nov 29, 2007 Michael T Lane Michael Todd Lane, 38, of Belvidere, Ill, (formerly of Holdrege, Neb.) passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Nov 25, 2007, at the St Anthony Medical Cener in Rockford, Ill. Mike was born on Oct 7, 1969, at Smithville, Mo, the youngest of two sons of Bill and Connie (Nelson) Lane. He received his primary education at Pleasant Valley School in Pleasant Valley, Mo until the fourth grade. The family moved to Holdrege where Mike attended R-6 District School north of Holdrege. He graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1988. Mike was active in 4-H, lettered in football and was a member of the wrestling team. He graduated with honors, was on the Dean's list and had perfect attendance from the cheyenne AeroTech in Cheyenne, Wyo. Mike was employed by United Airlines as an airline mechanic in Okland, Indianapolis and most recently in chicago. His passion in life was his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He traveled extensively, and was proud of the fact he had traveled to all 48 contiguous states. Mike was a master scuba diver and dove in many exotic places including the Great Barrier Reef in australia. His latest assignment was servicing aircraft in Iraq. He leaves to mourn his passing his mother Connie Lane of Holdrege; father, Bill Lane of Huntsville; brother, Jeff Lane and his fiance, Casi Fellingham of Tulsa, Okla; grandfather, Lawrence Nelson of Holdrege, Neb; his aunts and uncles, Gay Longfellow and her husband, Stan of Kearney, Neb, Carol Johnson of Ord, Neb, Dennis Nelson of Holdrege, Clara Cottey and her husband, Jim of Lancaster, Mo; his goddaughter, Paige Abramson and her mother, Holly of Holdrege; and cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Edith Nelson; paternal grandparents, Louis and Virginia Lane; his uncle, Dan Johnsen and cousin, Kent Longfellow. Mike will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Tuesday, Nov 29, 2007, from 1-9 pm with the family greeting from 7-8:30 pm. Funeral services for Michael T Lane will be conducted from the First Baptist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Friday, Nov 30, 2007, at 10 am with Reverend Jean Clayton officiating. Interment will be in the Moses Hill Cemetery in Phelps County, Nebraska. A memorial has been established in his memory for a future aviation scholarship fund in Mike's memory.
