It is about nine miles from Lead Hill and can be reached by turning off State Rt. 14 at Monarch. Follow County Road MC 3005 about two miles to County Road MC 3010. It is then about one mile to the cemetery at the end of the road. The road is passable, ut not to be attempted in bad weather. The cemetery is fenced and tended. The remains of an old school house adjoin the cemetery. The school was still in use in the 1940's. I surveyed the cemetery on November 27, 2000 and copied the information I found on the stones. Then I consulted a book at the Marion County Library to compare my findings: Cemeteries of Marion County, by Lester and Marion Burnes. I will insert in brackets [] any information the book included which differs or adds to the material I witnessed. Lewis Slagley 1905-1971 (no stone remains, just a metal marker) [According to Burnes, Lewis was the son of J.S. Slagley] Mother May Merritt 1889-1913 "Life's a voyage that is homeward bound" Minnie daughter of W.J. & M.L. Harrelson [or Harleson] b. and d. March 31, 1890 Roy son of D. & M.L. Harrelson b. and d. H. Slagley and wife no dates [Burnes interprets this as midwife, rather than wife] Leo Slagley Fay Slagley no date a hand carved marker that appears to be of a very rough concrete material Ella Slagley June 1, 1920-January 20, 1924 Leo Slagley October 14, 1917-January 15, 1924 John Ray Slagley [Burnes lists this as John Slagley, Jr.] June 1, 1920-December 2, 1997 John G. Slagley April 29, 1879-April 13, 1945 [Henry Slagley no dates, hand carved rough stone] This entry according to Burnes. I did not see this stone. May Slagley (on back of the stone, the name Martha is scratched) May 20, 1889-August 13, 1967 [Burnes: died August 9, 1930 and was wife of John G. Slagley] Ralph [Lloyd] Slagley August 9, 1930-May 16, 1967 [Burnes: son of John G. & May (Kelley) Slagley] [Ralph L. Slagley May 16, 1907-August 9, 1930] (I didn not find this, and considering the dates, I question its accuracy) Fisk Jane 1870-1941 Nat 1872-1934 "Gone but not Forgotten" There are several rough hewn stone markers with nothing readable scattered throughout.
